****Official 90s Music Draft Thread**** (Complete)

Recommended Posts

Said I wasnt gonna take a lot of rap going into this thing yet here I am with 2 of them in my first 5 picks.

5.15 California Love - Tupac and Dr. Dre

I mentioned when I picked Gangsta's Paradise that there were two rap songs I wanted; this was the other one. I'm increasingly convinced that we are the same person. :D

I picked a song from this artist in the 70s draft. 16 years and multiple failed albums later, he released another epic album, appropriately named Bat Out of Hell 2. I may have played this CD more than any other in the decade; I love every song. I'll choose the biggest hit and provide a live short version of it. Wiki calls it "Wagnerian rock," that is so my wheelhouse. A hankering back to the prog rock days -- big, epic music.

5.16 I'd Do Anything for Love - Meat Loaf

I had front row seats to see him in Tampa and it the show was canceled due to lack of interest. WTF. It was when Bat out of Hell was huge.

I've seen him twice. First time was late 80s in some shiothole in the Boston area; he hadn't done anything of consequence since Bat 1 and was just earning some money. But it was a great show. Second time was the Bat 2 tour in Phoenix, he was big again and it was a major arena. His daughter was one of the backup singers on that one, and she was noticeably more dressed than the other singer. :D

The one that was canceled was at the Jai Alai forum in Tampa. Which was odd to start with. I don't know of any concerts held there before or after.

Is Jai Alai still a thing? I make it to Tampa once or twice a year these days, I should check it out. And let you know when I'm there, in case I need an Uber errrr.... want a geek meet. :D

No. It went under when they opened the Hard Rock Casino here. I used to like Jai Alai. I would go eat, drink and gamble and come out with about the same money I went in with.

Vud is up

Can you update the thread title?

Also I'm heading out in about an hour for the night; if my pick doesn't come up by then I'll PM it to you, unless you aren't going to be around.

5.17 Nothing Compares 2 U Sinead OConnor.

Was wondering when someone would grab it...the song...by the bald chick.

The lack of hair makes it tough..but she was pretty good looking back in the day.

Good pick. That was on my list as well and is definitely an iconic 90's song. She's a weird bird though.

Good, I'm trying to avoid picking songs by any artists that have already been represented so I'm glad to see no one missed out on this one.

That's what I was saying. I wasn't going to pick that song because Temple of the Dog was already picked elsewhere, so I am glad someone else made sure that Say Hello 2 Heaven was drafted.
