Portland alt right / antifa marches August 17th 2019

Recommended Posts

No thread on this?

I remember a few years ago when like 5 nazis showed up for a march and everyone laughed.  Crowd looks MUCH bigger now.  Apparently, this is the biggest alt right march in history.  Alt right members now also covering their face like antifa, except alt right marchers are using the US flag as a handkerchief over their mouth.

https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2019/08/portland-protests-antifa-right-wing-groups-set-to-face-off-downtown-live-updates.html

The stated purpose of the rally was to spotlight antifa:

President Donald Trump weighed in on the demonstrations early Saturday morning, amplifying right-wing activists’ push to have anti-fascists, or antifa, designated as domestic terrorists. "Major consideration is being given to naming ANTIFA an ‘ORGANIZATION OF TERROR,’” he tweeted. “Portland is being watched very closely. Hopefully the Mayor will be able to properly do his job!”

In a subsequent interview with CNN, Mayor Ted Wheeler responded: “My job today is to be heads down and focused on maintaining the public safety here in Portland, Oregon. I’m focused on what’s going on the ground here in my community. ... and frankly, (the president’s tweet) is not helpful. This is a potentially dangerous and volatile situation, and adding to that noise doesn’t do anything to support or help the efforts that are going on here in Portland.”

Supposedly they are planning monthly rallies in Portland until antifa is reined in, but we'll see.

Antifa is the problem. It's not up for debate at this point.

My understanding is that Antifa was wearing maga hats and American flags, trying to start fights with each other, scream racist shite, for the cameras.

The proud boys trolled the Terrorists of Portland, including the cuck mayor, the cuck police, and the jidhadis. They announced a big event, got everyone worked up ready to kill "Nazis", showed up for 5 minutes, then left.

Forced Portland to waste millions of dollars and the press to cover how violent Antifa really is.

Mission accomplished.

You have bad intel, I think.

I think it should be illegal for protestors to cover their faces.

Don't like it but shouldn't be illegal. BUT if they commit a crime while protesting with a mask, that should be an extra charge.

The violent rhetoric from Democrats have undermined the right of the American citizens to peacefully assemble.

Reductio ad Hitlerum, to refute whatever one doesn’t like by associating it with Hitler.

Nationalsozialismus (National Socialism, later shortened to Nazi)

Mussolini and Hitler both identified socialism as the core of the fascist and Nazi weltanschauung.

“We are socialists. We are the enemies of today’s capitalist system of exploitation . . . and we are determined to destroy this system under all conditions.” - Adolf Hitler 1927

Only 13 arrests and overwhelmingly non violent. Great job by the Oregon PD and the city keeping things safe and orderly. Glad nobody got seriously hurt.

Well, there were kinda two different nazi periods.  That statement was made during the first period.

In the beginning, Hitler embraced leftist groups.  He swelled his ranks of followers by filling them with blue collar workers and the poor who wanted more benefits and equality.  The blue collar / poor faction was known as the SA or "brownshirts".  He said that in 1927 because he needed to grow the SA.  Once Hitler assumed power in 1933, he switched over to winning the support of the middle class and power brokers in Germany.  That meant betraying the SA.  This happened during the "Night of the Long Knives" in June and July of 1934.  SA leaders were killed or jailed and its membership was drastically reduced.  The SA was replaced by the SS, which was filled with the ranks of middle class and military members.

The SA and SS were both paramilitary groups.  The SS was an upgrade that replaced the SA.

Assuming Trump is another Hitler, you could draw parallels to the Trump rallies.  Trump is touring the nation swelling support for his cause, and the Trump rallies continue to get bigger and bigger.  These trump rallies are filled with the poor and blue collar workers and would be the modern day equivalent of the SA.  Trump would be constructing his version of the SA with these rallies.  The alt right rallies in Portland for example would also be an modern day SA movement.  Trump is already in power, but he still needs to work to convince the middle class that the democrat party is racist against whites and that action must be taken.

However, if you wanted to make a broader comparison between 1920s and 1930 Germany and modern America, most political parties had their own paramilitary organizations back then.  Antifa would more closely match the SA because the SA's goals were to provide protection at Nazi rallies and to disrupt and control the rallies of rival parties such as the Red Front Fighter League.  Antifa does exactly this, as any time the alt right marches, antifa is there to disrupt.  But we're kinda in that 1920s-1930s Germany mode, where there are several active extremist groups, all of them assembling paramilitary groups to combat each other.

What's fueling all of this today is a collapse in trust.  People don't trust American institutions anymore, so extremist groups are going to keep growing rapidly.

If you look at FBGs, Joe Bryant, Maurile Tremblay, etc. are acting exactly like Nazi brownshirt SA leaders.

1.  They protect and defend rallies (on their forum) for the hard left.

2.  They disrupt rallies (on their forum) for other groups, and ban their members.

All the while, they falsely proclaim they are moderate and represent the middle.  That's exactly what the brownshirts did.  Ernst Rohm would be proud of them.

Those antifa kids seem like a hateful bunch. Very very hateful. Probably hate half the country.

They seem to lack empathy.

Joe Bryant is Hitler and getting banned from his free fantasy football website is literally the Holocaust.

Didnt say that but they act like brownshirts. Just from the left. If the internet existed in the 1920s, the nazis would run their website just like joe and maurile. Hell they even have a thread where they encourage political activism and leadership outside the forum, which joe calls “super cool” but considering how radical that board is, t is most definitely not cool

That board is so radical that Bernie Sanders calls it "The Crazy Left".

And the current incarnation of Antifa is supposedly modeled on the German Antifaschistische Aktion (the current group uses a flag logo that this original group used).  They were a bunch of communists.  The Brownshirts engaged in open violence with them and eventually burned down Antifa's headquarters in 1933, after which the members went underground.

It seems as though you have the two fringe elements of each political ideology facing off here, is that not the case?

Yes 100%. Only a total hack would defend either one.

There was a video of the non-Antifa side throwing hammers out of their bus at the Antifa protesters.

So I originally read it as they threw the hammer... they didn't.  They opened their bus door and started swinging.

I originally saw it because Andy Ngo reported that some Antifa dude attacked the bus with the hammer.  Someone posted the video of the hammer coming from the side you guys are calling the "peaceful" side.

Edit - Forgot to add the link: https://twitter.com/BelowStudent/status/1163002453924745216

BOTH sides were.  Both sides are thugs that don't belong with the normal people of society.  Unless you think they A) brought the hammer for a peaceful reason, and B) opened the door with hammer in hand to conduct peace talks.

Why was Antifa there? It wasn't their march or rally. Not going to get on anyone for protecting themselves from them.

Or they brought the hammer to use in self-defense against violent Antifa.  Antifa has been engaging in thuggery on Portland streets for months now.  Someone needs to give them a beatdown.
