You would let a 14 year old make up their own mind on getting a shot or not? If a parent isn't telling them why they will not get one, then that is child abuse.

Tim has clearly spent a good deal of time researching this issue and knows whats best. Passing that decision to an ignorant tween-ager whose spent a small fraction of the time learning about it as Tim has, is an abdication of responsibility. This is what parents are for.

My son is 12. When this semester ends, we're pulling him out of the Chinese school system and homeschooling him from grade seven onward. My wife gets a say in the matter and is supporting my idea.  I spent a great deal of effort going over the various homescholing options I have because I want the curriculum that meets my standards. My son doesn't get to make that decision, he'll live with mine, and the reason for that is I know what's best for him at this age, I love him dearly, and although he's a clever boy, he's still only 12.

I said I would give my opinion if asked.  If I was simply doing what was best for him/her then no I probably wouldn't have them take the vaccine.   But I do think there is an element of helping Keep America Great by doing our part to help end the pandemic.

My criticism is not in any way about what the decision is, it's about who gets to make that decision. You've clearly done your homework, you know more than the kid, you should be the one to make the decision.

I wish I'd known about the whole 14 year old making his own life changing decisions thing. Would have saved a ton of money. Of course he'd probably have some tats by 15, but oh well, win some , lose some.

My point is I don’t think getting a covid vaccine is a “life-changing decision.”   We agree to disagree.

There is no way you can be sure that what what you are saying is true.

We have a virus around for 1.5 years that is relatively benign to 99% of society.  We have a vaccine that has been around for 6 months with no long term study, and thus not approved by the FDA. Not sure a 14 year old is capable of digesting the facts here under the duress of a parent that is all-in on a certain track. It is a life changing decision and I honestly don't see a parent of the ilk that Hauck presents here allowing his kid to have a say.

This.  This is the answer.  There's literally no other option. This is literally you're number 1 job as a parent.

Correct, but I’m also not selfish and I hope my children won’t be either. And in the grand scheme of things, helping to end the pandemic is really in their own best interest.   As much as you guys think I’m a “brown shirt,” I want to get back to normal (without just wishing it so).

We all do.  It's the cost of the fatty flu that frightens us.  Particularly for kids who are pretty much already immune. We are being grossly irresponsible to them.

Tim, you're on the wrong side of this. Everyone wants normalcy.  I'd rather live in a mask for another year before I even have a sliver of thought of giving my kids this vaccine.  Kids are not prophylactic tools for adults.  They just aren't.

Well as pretty much everyone here agrees, masks don't stop the spread.   Vaccines for the most part do.

And giving the vaccine to keep a high risk, informed adult safe is entirely different than giving a kid the vaccine because it might keep them from spreading it to someone else.

This.  I see arguments for both sides, and I see value in engaging your teen in a discussion regarding the pros and cons, but at the end of the day the parent needs to make this decision and should be able to communicate the reasons for their decision.

It has a bit of leftiness and even a random white guilt sentence, but here's an interesting article about how long the vaccine has been worked on - https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/investigations/2021/01/26/moderna-covid-vaccine-science-fast/6555783002/

Interestingly, a lot of the inspiration came from when 2 infants died of RSV after they had participated in a trial in 1966.

Did you see the story about the Seychelles? A huge covid outbreak in one of the most vaccinated countries.

She’s not biased at all.   100 pregnancy losses is probably less than the general population rate...do you know how common pregnancy losses are?

Yet people getting pregnant during the trial is just “anecdotal”...

What the percentages of vax/non-vax that would fock your mom?  It's gotta be close to 100% either way based on how long I had to wait my turn last night.

Sounds like the Chinese vaccine doesn't work all that well.

They were always this afraid.  We just didn't know how to quantify it.  Their puppet masters obviously did.

Apparently not. I heard numbers at 50% before reading this and now I think that is generous.

Eh, I'd be curious to see the age breakdown of that chart.   I'd bet the unvaccinated skew way younger.   So while you'd think some of those vaccinated %'s should be higher than they are, I'm not surprised to see the unvaccinated % higher than the vaccinated.

Dude, it's from Fauci's mouth to their ears, and the one thing you and I agree on is that Fauci has not been bullish on the effectiveness of the vaccine.

I got the first vaccine from phizer, and definitely thinking about not going back for the second one. Blood clots and auto immune problems in the future is a reality that could come true. We just don't know enough. And there are a lot of toxicologists and other doctors opinions that support this could be real. We know fauci is a fraud, the person in charge of inspecting the wuhan lab was the same person who filtered money to them for research, and how the fock can we trust the CDC?

The left sucks doing what they are doing by pushing this in a way to make people who don't want it out to be criminals.

Holy sh1t, what were you thinking?

Did you get any free stuff?

Currently this is the list:

A donut a day, free beer, $100 in cash, Ohio is drawing 5 winners for $1million (probably spreading it out over 20 years and when you die, it cancels), DeBlabbio will give you a voucher for a shake shake burger and some fries.

Not a surprise. That's why they got the jab. They were afraid....of a weak virus that kills fatties at less than 0.2%. Hell yeah they re gonna be afraid of everything.

No more masks(almost) for vaxxers!  The responses in this tweet are both hilarious and scary seeing the psychological damage that has been done to some people.
