I'm going to go to bed soon. I hope when I wake up things are >80% under control. I watched the press conference personally where the president told us he'd lean hard on governors to send in the National Guard, if that didn't work, he'd send in the Army. That doesn't mean anybody dies by the way.  I was in the Michigan National Guard when two fine cops, Budzyn and Nevers, were on trial for accidentally killing a black crackhead named Malice Green. This was soon after Rodney King and so the stakes were high and we got a weekend's worth of training in how to form a wedge to escort someone through a hostile crowd.

I never did get the call to activate though, Mayor Young had two of Detroit's finest cops railroaded to prison, the mob was satiated, and i got to stay home.

Somebody please educate me on this..what does community oriented non-violent policing look like if you disband your police dept?  Do criminals all of a sudden just stop doing criminal stuff?  Im all for whatever lowers crime.  Id love to be able to go into the city and eat dinner and not have to carry.

It’s going to happen. It already was in some areas, but we are going to move at warp speed now. The number one priority for police departments going forward will be how to handle protests and riots. The rest will be changed radically.  And there will be consequences, but mostly for people that live in poor areas.
