Why do you make crap like this up?

Without a draft the main recruiting tools of the military are sports and movies. I can't tell you how many fighter pilots I talked to who either joined because of Top Gun or the Blue Angels. It inspired almost all of them.

Same for military ads during games showcasing free education and healthcare. How are we going to recruit with everyone getting free college and healthcare. Damn near impossible. We would have to implement a draft or accept having a weak military. China would love it. Bye bye Taiwan.

There's nothing wrong with doing it, just as long as people can admit to what it really is.  Some like to act as if it's our military performing some patriotic display when in reality it is a business decision from our military to recruit more people.  As a spectator it truly is a patriotic moment and enjoyable, but I don't think that is honestly it's intended purpose.  Same reason why the NFL has a military presence at most games, they are trying to take advantage of people's patriotism in order to gain more fans.

I think the main purpose of the flyovers is for marketing themselves.  The fact that they are flying allows them to use it as training hours and anytime it gets brought up as them wasting money they can say it's treated as training.  It's pretty basic business really.  All kinds of business activities happen for one reason but get expensed for as something else like training or advertising.  I do the same thing.

You do know that if they weren't doing a flyover at a stadium, they would actually be training somewhere else nearby, right?

Nobody does a fly over in Iowa. What would they fly over?

I don't know if they would be doing training exercises elsewhere instead?  Those flyovers are scheduled based on the event schedules and not the military's training schedule, right?

I'm surprised you never heard of the Hawkeyes.  The entire team and band ran a train on your mom.  I'm sure she's told you about them.

Good one. Still doesn’t register. Any big games ever played there that would be worthy of a fly over? Maybe a Trump rally in 2016?

He has a very igotworms vibe. Enters a thread with zero knowledge of the topic, makes an ignorant statement..  Get's schooled by some locals, becomes sort of educated.  Then forms some half-cocked new stance based on his old ignorant preconceived notions and the newly found info he received from having his teeth kicked in with facts.  New thread, rinse, repeat.  It's a never ending cycle.

Obtusely existing is his only option.

Why don't you tell me how I was wrong.  Provide me with examples on how wrong I am. If you do well then I will apologize for my ignorant statements.

The flyover before the Ohio State game back in 2010 was one of the greatest flyovers.  They flew way too low and got in trouble for it.

Oh. Yeah, I guess when Ohio State visits it’s a big deal. In 2010.  Lol.

That is how it should be done!  This 1000 ft minimum has to go after watching this one.

I was just pointing out the most memorable one because it was awesome.  I think they do at least one flyover every year.  Iowa always has a tribute to locals currently serving in the military and our veterans.  I'm sure Iowa State has the occasional flyover as well.

Since RedZone began, I find it difficult to imagine why anyone would be interested in watching a national broadcast, having to endure announcers and commercials, and wasting endless hours watching a bunch of nothing happen between the 20s.  As an aside, if you listen carefully to Aikman, you can actually hear Madden.

I switched from Dish to Hulu and the RedZone channel is the one I miss the most.  The Bears game is really the only game I want to watch the entirety of.

I have a poster of the flyover in my office.  I don't think anyone who was there will forget that flyover.

I DVR prime time games and start watching about an hour into the game, just watching the plays. I hate every announcer and don’t want have to watch commercials. I can’t see watching any other way from now on. Listening to Romo, Aikman and Collinsworth drone on betweeen plays is so tiresome at this point. Plus no Michelle Tafaoya and the other useless sideline reporters. “ he has overcome so much”. Ugh.

Oh, I apologize if I made it sound like I wanted some sort of back and forth with you.  Simply pointing out your obvious tendencies, which are there for everybody to see.  You can either acknowledge them, be less hasty and ignorant in the future or continue as you were...

Makes no difference to me.

So, you make a baseless claim and then take your ball and go home.  Well done.

Sideline reporting has got to be one of the worst ideas the broadcasts have ever come up with that is still around. If Dennis Miller was still on MNF that would have been the worst.

At least I try to back up my opinions.

They’re your opinions. They don’t need back up. It’s your beliefs that do and you don’t do that very well.

Why wouldn't opinions need to be backed up?  Opinions are based on something which can give more or less credit to them.

What's wrong with my beliefs and what does it have to do with this thread?

These flyover costs are practically nothing. Every squadron in the country is constantly doing cross country flights or training on carriers. It is constant and never ends.

It would be like debating backing the car out of the garage to wash it. Seriously. Buck is an idiot.

Redzone isn't perfect.  Also, my receiver lets me break my tv in to 4 smaller tv's with different channels on each.  For the first game each week, I can watch two games plus redzone at the same time, and still have a fourth window if there's other sports to watch.  Works out pretty well.

Also lives in a state that's 'protected' by the USDA.

The following is from 2012. Imagine how much taxpayers shell out in 2020.
