Parents of suspended UMass students: Punishment for off-campus maskless photo ‘complete overkill'

Recommended Posts

Focking disgusting idiots. This should end up in court.

Students not allowed to finish semester after suspension

The parents of three University of Massachusetts-Amherst students who were suspended for allegedly violating the school's COVID-19 health policy told "Fox & Friends" the "draconian" punishment was "complete overkill."

The students, all women, were first removed from campus and then were cut off their remote lesson access.

"They went to a gathering, off-campus on a Saturday. They took a picture and another student screenshotted that picture on Instagram and sent it to the administration," one of the parents told host Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday. "So that picture virtually got them kicked out of school."

....

"It's been heartbreaking watching my well-adjusted daughter be emotionally distraught," she added. "It's been heartbreaking for my whole family."

She stressed that the university has shown "no compassion to us."

The women were also reportedly not allowed to take their final exams, rendering the school year moot and forcing them to reapply next year. The cost for one semester is $16,000 — a fee the families will not see refunded as part of the punishment.

I could have sent my kid to Massachusetts to go to school.  Instead I sent him to Florida.  No brainer.  These parents learned a valuable lesson.

Guess these poor girls will need to resort to a life of topless photos.

Ok... what if the girls were black?  Would that punishment still have come down?  I'm betting the answer would be no.  If I'm those parents and girls, I'd be ALL OVER social media stalking every student at that school and finding all of the kids who did the same thing.

Good idea. The parents could hire a group of detectives with one goal only, take pictures get names and post on social media. Then the parents can gather all the pics and names and bring a lawyer with them to the school and have a little chat. Hell, call Fox News, they will put them on.

Good, they violated school policy and got punished for it. Hopefully they learn consequences.

When I see black girls ripping each other’s hair extensions out in airports they aren’t wearing masks. Did anyone let Harvard and Yale know?

Exactly...i'm very confused why the members of the 'personal responsibility' party are so outraged.

It's troubling how some schools think they have control over every aspect of a students life.

Yep. They are power hungry and wish to wield that power. It makes them come...

This is all great for the lib community, but they will see what the real consequences are when all of the people who leave liberal states starts to really add up. Those states are going to be getting killed by debt while they lose tons of high earners. It's going to get very ugly.

The lib states don't care, they just want the electoral votes so they simply need to keep the criminals and illegals (who are criminals) around to populate the areas.

Saw this last week but forgot to post since I was in Florida. That school is gonna have to pay up big time cause they had no business doing what they did. The girls were off campus so the school has no authority over what they do off campus. Especially something that isn’t even illegal like being outside without a mask 🤦🏻‍♂️

Also, I’d find who took the picture and sent it back to the administration and whoop the Sh1t out of them. Snitches get stitches and unless they start gettin their a$$ whipped they’ll keep on being good little Nazi informants

I think the rule is stupid but if the students were made aware of it and went ahead and posted a pic online, tough chit.

The real a hole in this story is whoever sent the pic to administration but the girls were dumb for taking it and presumably putting it on social media anyway.

Can’t tell people what to do off campus especially when it’s not an illegal activity. University is in the wrong and will lose big time. It would be different if they violated it ON campus. But OFF campus? They have no authority to do anything

I’m not a pretend lawyer but I’m guessing most universities have some type of code of conduct policy that covers off campus too.

Code of conduct. Not mask policy. Two COMPLETELY different things. You don’t have to be a pretend lawyer to know they have no jurisdiction over whether a student has a mask on or not off campus. That would be like your work firing you cause you didn’t wear a mask at a gathering at your house. They overstepped. And now they’re gonna pay big time for it with this lawsuit.

Good to see that some rules still result in accountability.  Now, let's extend this to people who resist arrest.

I’ll be surprised if they do but I’m not a fake lawyer - we’ll see.

A few years back, a woman was at a bachlorette part, got drunk, and simulated giving a manequin a blowjob, like that scene in Airplane! This woman was a middle school teacher in the school district where my sister lives, photos of her went viral all around the school, and the school board fired her. She sued, forced the district to give her her job back, and still works in the school district today.

I don't know where to look for that stuff. But if you do, I'd search for: leaked photos anna land jobbie nooner

Her name was Anna Land (now Anna Urbin) and Jobbie Nooner is the local boat festival where the actions took place

Didn't multiple pro athletes get fined last year for photos of them at parties and such?

Not sure if this is when the picture was taken, but if so "citations were issued to the hosts" so sounds like something illegal happened - https://www.umass.edu/coronavirus/news/egregious-violations-policy

Also, not sure why someone ratted them out, but sounds like they put the picture on instagram to begin with.

Very quick perusal of reddit confirms that's where the photo was taken.

"All students involved will have their appropriate due process, but under no circumstances will they continue as a university student in the interim"

Seems pretty clear.
