Here's what the Russia sanctions Biden announced today will do — and who they will target

US President Joe Biden said Thursday that the newly announced sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine will take some time to have their full impacts felt by Russia and its economy. 

"This is gonna take time. And we have to show resolve, so he knows what's coming. And so the people of Russia know what he's brought on them. That's what this is all about," Biden said. 

He added, "He's not going to say, 'Oh my God, these sanctions are coming. I'm going to stand down.' He's going to test the resolve of the West to see if we stay together and we will. We will and it will impose significant costs on him."

The President also said that the sanctions are critical for sending a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin. 

"If we don't move against him now with these significant sanctions, he will be emboldened," Biden said. 

Here's a look at the unveiled sanctions and who they will target, according to the White House:  

• Cut off Russia's largest financial institution, Sberbank, and 25 of its subsidiaries from the US financial system. Sberbank holds nearly one-third of the overall Russian banking sector's assets
• "Full blocking sanctions" on VTB Bank, Russia second largest bank, and 20 of its subsidiaries. 
• "Full blocking sanctions" on three other large Russia banks: Bank Otkritie, Sovcombank OJSC, and Novikombank. 
• Cut off 13 major state-owned companies from raising money from the US market. The list include: Sberbank, AlfaBank, Credit Bank of Moscow, Gazprombank, Russian Agricultural Bank, Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Transneft, Rostelecom, RusHydro, Alrosa, Sovcomflot, and Russian Railways.
• Sanctions on Russian elites and family members. The list: Sergei Ivanov (and his son, Sergei), Andrey Patrushev (and his son Nikolai), Igor Sechin (and his son Ivan), Andrey Puchkov, Yuriy Solviev (and two real estate companies he owns), Galina Ulyutina, and Alexander Vedyakhin.
• Sanctions on 24 Belarusian people and companies. This includes "two significant Belarusian state-owned banks, nine def

So, with insider information, I can inform that Ukrainians hate two groups of people more than death itself. Russians, and American liberals. Both have caused so much death and destruction over a long period of time.

If you want to go down the rabbit hole, go research the Holodomor holocaust in the 1930's, where Stalin's tactics led to 10 million Ukrainians starving to death. Ukraine declared their independence, once again, and the Russian soldiers were instructed to burn all of the crops, and surrounded the borders to choke off supplies. 10 million people died. Mass graves every where. 10 million. NY Times won Pulitzers for reporting that it was fake news, no problems here, nothing to see here. Well, they have the skeletal remains, so....

When the Soviet Union was dismantling, Ukraine gave up it's nuclear arsenal and signed a treaty with the USA and United Kingdom, as long as they promised to protect Ukraine from Russian invasion. Obama scoffed, and sent band aids and blankets to Ukraine when Putin stole a third of the country. Trump gave Ukraine weapons, and Ukrainians love Trump to this very day and sing his praises. Biden cancelled all weapons contracts, and sent band aids and blankets. See a pattern? Biden is now going to give the rest of the country over to Putin.

I've read about the great famine. Not proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Stalin did it, although in my opinion I think he did. Some Ukers resorted to cannabalism. But you're incorrect about Biden not sending military stuff over there.

For the record, Trump actually stalled as long as he could giving Ukraine any military aid. Only did so because Congressional Republicans bullied him. And even then, the anti-tank weapons that we provided? Are specifically not deployable against the Ruskies. So, toothless too.

Yeah, I've talked to survivors, many of them. So many of them. And they all hate Jeff Probst.

GUn laws in Ukraine are construct so that the elite can generally have guns and the common people find it next to impossible to get them.  Gun permits are generally issued as presents to members of the elite.  Suddenly, Ukraine wants to arm its people at the last second in this moment. On February 23rd 2022, following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and a declaration of a state of emergency the Ukrainian parliament approved a law which gives citizens the right to carry weapons outside their homes for the purpose of self defense

 

Fun fact: if your government doesn't prevent people from owning firearms, they don't have to scramble to arm them in the event of an invasion.

This is a train wreck of taking things out of context and putting a negative spin on things.

The question wasn't whether he thinks Putin will strike the United States. The question, after a wind up regarding Putin's vague threat yesterday, was: "Is he threatening a nuclear strike?" to which Biden replied, "I have no idea what he is threatening; I know what he has done."
