Saw an interesting piece on CBS about an isolated Iran having no place to sell its oil but China, which would only buy it at a severely discounted prices.

That would be nice but I don't think it is going to happen.  Europe is way to dependent on Russian supply. Europe gets 35-40% of its Nat Gas from Russia and about 30% of its oil.

I doubt it.  The West will buy and sell it through various intermediaries to Europe at three times the cost.  Just like when the United States fomented this coup in Ukraine and switched Ukraine from Gazprom natural gas to trucked in natural gas at almost double the cost.  When the US overthrows a gov't. all it really delivers to the people are pride parades and higher energy costs.  As to the latter, if gas prices in the US go to $10-$15 a gallon, I am going to find you and rip your throat out like Dalton did to Jimmy in Roadhouse.

Interesting wild thought. Revelation (bible) talks about a time (in context it's reasonable to assume this time is yet to come) when a big power descends upon Israel for its spoils, and the rest of the world's nations protest it but don't do anything about it. Given where the power comes from, and some other aspects stated, most people have the impression that Russia is a great candidate for this power.

So the crazy chicken little thought here is, maybe we're soon going to see or experience why the nations merely "protest."
