Sure thing Mooney.  Disney was going to get a significant windfall by moving to Florida. Now they aren’t. It’s all good. I want to let you in on something:   Saving 100 dollars is better than making 100 dollars. See if you can figure out why.

You are so head in the concrete on this...just like

Stop spewing DNC talking points and propaganda all day long and then the shoe won't fit you anymore and you don't have to worry about it. :dunno:

The propagandist - you - is the one that needs help.

If you bought stock in Disney in early 2021, when you factor in inflation, it has to get a good amount past what you paid before you turn an actual profit. They wrecked it in two years.  Less actually.  It’s unbelievable.

I love when tardcore thinks he's making an intelligent point and gets all snarky, but it's just common sense that we all know that he's spewing

It’s all good. Disney is doing great like you’ve been saying for over a year now. Update?

No one else knows Florida offers tax breaks. Only HT.

He probably thinks he is the only one who knows that ice is available in the soda fountain machines.

Disney was going to get a 580 million dollar tax break by moving those 2k jobs to Florida. Now they won’t. Brilliant. It’s all good though. Desantis!

And why do you think they walked away from that?

Never mind that floridas corporate tax rate is 5.5 and Californias is nearly 9 pct.  Bank on this: Disney will be moving to Florida after the next election.

Did you now figure out that the reason is desantis?

I'm gonna tell you something Mooney, when you get a soda, you probably just press the button of the soda you want, right?  Well you see the claw thing in the middle?  Do you know what that is for?  Next time you get a soda, try it out, then come back here and thank me.

Politics. He should have played nice. But he’s Bidens boy. Biden wanted to make him ambassador to China.  Good grief.  He would probably give them Hawaii. They own him too.

This is entirely false.  Democrats continued to dominate Senate, House, and Gubernatorial elections in the south for decades. Alabama did not elect a GOP governor until 1986. Mississippi? 1991. Georgia? 2002.

They weren’t liberal.

Oh this is a new one.

So we got reality and eternalc0ckeater saying the cancelled the move because they couldn't afford it.

Now tardcore pilot is saying they cancelled the move because Iger is in bed with Biden and he's playing politics.

Meanwhile everyone else knows the real reason because desantis has created an unfriendly environment for Disney.

He sure has. Self inflicted wound, and its oozing. And Disney has no choice but to try and torpedo Desantis.  Might work.

He is creating the same environment as all the other theme parks in Florida.

Actually no he's specifically targeted Disney, by his own admission, and he's being sued for it.

If they were for civil rights and against segregation they were liberal. If they were either against civil rights or indifferent (believing it a “states rights” issue) they were conservative. The party they were in was irrelevant. This isn’t difficult.

But the Republicans passed the first civil rights law

On September 9, 1957, President Eisenhower signed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 into law, the first major civil rights legislation since Reconstruction.

Pretending that Democrats were not, or even are not, racists is not going to sell among educated and reasoned people.

We know our history.

Yup.  Disney fuuuucked up. And Iger had a chance when he came back to tone it down. But he didn’t.   He’s on team Biden.

Repeat after me: it was a minor civil rights act, did very little, but it was written and passed by LIBERAL Republicans (who don’t exist anymore.) Eisenhower was not a liberal (nor was he conservative; he was a centrist) and he signed it only very reluctantly. Conservatives of the time urged him not to sign it because of states rights concerns.

OK one last time: the Democratic Party has a long history of racism. Longer and much much worse than the Republican Party.

But with very few exceptions these are not LIBERAL Democrats. For the most part they were conservative and racist. There are some exceptions; both Woodrow Wilson and FDR, for example, were socially liberal but cared nothing about civil rights (Wilson was a notorious racist). But again these are exceptions.

We can agree to disagree.  If the outcomes of liberal policies were not so measurably destructive to people of color I might be inclined to give them some leeway, but so long as they continue to harm the AA in particular, nope....

I never understood this tact of highlighting the racism of the democratic party 60 years ago.

It's irrelevant, but if the argument is that it's germane to today's democratic party, couldn't you apply the same concept to white people as a whole given racism over the first 200 years of the country's existence?  Seems like it's untenable ground.

Desantis getting a talking to from his own party

Florida's Republican senators are issuing warnings to Governor Ron DeSantis over his ongoing feud with the Walt Disney Company.

With the economic impact of DeSantis's war with Disney continuing to grow, Florida's Republican senators in Washington, D.C., have spoken out, urging caution for the governor moving forward. Senator Rick Scott, who previously held the governorship from 2011 to 2019, noted in an interview how vital Disney is to the state's economy, according to The Hill.

"This is the biggest or second-biggest employer in the state," Scott said. "Half the tourism that comes to our state comes to visit Disney. It's a reason people come to our state. After they come there, people move there. So I think cooler heads need to prevail. My view is we have to do everything to help our businesses grow."

Senator Marco Rubio, meanwhile had similar comments on the situation during an interview with Fox News last month.

"I think where it gets problematic in the eyes of some people is when you start creating the idea—and I'm not saying we're there yet as a state—but the idea that somehow if you run crossways with us politically, whoever's in charge, then you may wind up in the crosshairs of the legislature for political purposes to make a statement at you," Rubio said.

Speaking further, Rubio floated the prospect of a future Democratic governor targeting Chick-fil-A, a popular fast food chain noted for the conservative politics and devout Christian beliefs of its corporate leadership

Rubio raises a good point here.  Desantis's actions could start a new political/business/culture war.

Desantis targeting a corporation with values he disagrees with could lead to Democrats doing the same thing.

We're just getting more and more tribal.

No one was messing with Disney until they got out of line and decided they would change laws that the people of Florida wanted. Who do they think they are? We have money so we make the rules ? Not this time. Tough shite.

Since Disney is losing money, it's probably a good decision to back off spending $1 billion for a project that mostly just moves employees from one state to another.

Dummy, Disney can't change laws.  They simply exercised their first amendment rights as they are protected to do, under the citizens united ruling, the conservative case that allows corporations to say whatever they want and donate to political causes they support.  Conservatives wanted this, and now they will lose in court.  Fock around and find out.

Disney is not losing money for focks sake.

They are still planning to spend $17B in Florida over the next 10 years
