On the one hand, if we could come up with a label which isolates the desire from the behavior (pedophilia), maybe some people will not feel stigmatized and seek therapy and in the end reduce the occurrence of pedophilia. Unfortunately in today's environment, the most likely result is that the Left celebrates (vs. acknowledges) people with these desires, which runs the risk of emboldening the move from desire to behavior. I'll stop short of saying the Left will someday celebrate the behavior, but in recent years we've come to celebrate things like sexual fetishes with animals, so... never say never.
