Batgirl film will not see the light of day after shooting complete for $100ish million

Ugh...  You didn't get what I was saying to HT then.  He does exactly what Gutter did often.  That was the point.

Perhaps it's deserved in one direction and just frustration in the other, it's my experience that Gutter has a hard time with comprehension.  Very hard time.

No, this is what I said.

You and Mooney ought to have a read-off to see who has the worst reading comprehension.  I mean you both teeter on the limits of illiteracy.

Forcing in a minority limited their hiring pool and I'm betting there were better actress out there.  Of course there are good Latina actresses: Salma Heyek, Eva Longoria, Penelope Cruz, etc.  Leslie Grace isn't on that list.

You're contradicting yourself.  If there are plenty of food latina actresses then casting for one doesn't limit anything.

Youre an extremely stupid person and also a piece of sh1t.  You say something sh1tty then try to explain it away using semantics but we all know what you mean.

You think all Latina actresses are fat!?!?!?!?!

Selma pulls 10 million per movie.  Leslie probably got around 1 million for Batgirl.  Plenty of good white actresses for 1 million.  Go woke go broke.

You should probably sit this thread out.  You're getting your ass handed to you bigly.

It's clear that you can't read or comprehend basic sentences or meanings of words.  Maybe you should head over to the Weenie Hut Jr forums instead.  That's more your speed.

Im not an accountant but I think if you take the 90m loss then that's 90m of revenue that you don't have to pay taxes on.  But again thats just an educated guess.

Isn't the corporate tax rate 20% these days.  20% of 90 is 18 million in savings.

Losing more than 18 to save 18 probably isn't a good business model.

I have read that many of them are. I don’t watch them. Are you going to claim none of them are now?

So you've never seen a superhero movie but you read there are a bunch that are. It's clear you are not equipped for this discussion (like every other discussion you butt fumble your way through on here) so stand the fook back.

I didn't say there are some that are or are not- just asked you to name ones you think are.

Mooney thinks it’s the anti woke that are the loudest. Corporations paying millions directly to woke organizations, the pro noun and the transgender crap you can’t get away from, a summer of riots. Any future riots, CRT in schools. Yeah, the woke are struggling to be heard. This is the world this guy sees. Insane.

You asked the loudest and the least vocal- I still say the ones who don't care are the largest group. The people who are concerned about things being "too woke" are the loudest. "Struggling to be heard" and " the loudest" are too different categories. You know that but you do what you always do in trying to push multiple issues into one.

The reports coming out are diametrically opposed to your opinion.  People who have seen the pre-screening and testing all report that it was awful and cheap looking.

The only people suggesting it's bad because the actress is Latina is the Woke liberals trying to find a reason to pin something false on "the other side".  You either don't understand the "Get Woke, Go Broke" mantra because you're just not that bright or you're being purposefully obtuse.  Which is it?

So it has to fit your narrative too I see. Re-read the very first fooking sentence in the thread and then read all the posts by JustinCharge here on this board and then come back here and with a straight face try to make the argument that he is a "Woke liberal"

As @nobody and myself stated above:  Do you REALLY think they would've shitcanned this movie if the people at the screenings would've said it was a masterpiece?

In Hollywood, if your movie doesn't get released it's because it sucks.  In fact, it sucks so bad they believed that reshoots couldn't even save it.

Hollywood has never released a sh!t movie? That is quite the hot take.

7 hours ago, nobody said:

That article at least makes a better case than the posters in this thread as a purely economical decision.

If the movie was made for HBO Max and was never intended for theatrical release, a new executive could just say fock it and write it off and then blame his predecessor for executing on the move and budget poorly.  The rationale will be that the potential growth in subscription revenue to HBO Max from the move wouldn't outweigh the tax benefits.  You'd probably need to grow HBO Max revenue by 30 million plus to get positive ROI.  That only works for a new exec though.

My current estimate is that it's 68% that the movie sucked and 32% financial.

I literally made this case in the first post that it was far more about budgetary issues and specifically mentioned that the movie was made for HBO Max and not theaters and it would've cost them far more money to fix the look of the picture for theaters.

I've known a couple girls named Yolanda who were first generation from Mexico. I really don't the origin of names though for the most part.

What is the meaning of the name Yolanda? The name Yolanda is primarily a female name of Spanish origin that means Violet Flower.

Yolanda, I thought you said you were gonna be cool. Now when you yell at me, it makes me nervous. And when I get nervous, I get scared. And when motherfockers get scared, that's when motherfockers accidentally get shot. :bandana:

Again,. Not a corp accountant, neither are you, but I've been through m&a, and I believe there are some rules around taking the debt you acquired and using it for tax advantage, and eps advantage as well.  Since it's been discussed, I would have to assume it's real, unless they are trying to cover the fact they hired a Latino character which tanked the movie.

Are you HT's spokesperson?

Captain Marvel made like 1.1 billion worldwide.

Thor: Love and Thunder is at 670 million (second highest in that film series)...should get to 700 million. Less than the last one but the last one is highly regarded as one of the better films, and more fun ones in the MCU. This one has a different tone apparently.

The Marvel and Star Wars series are pretty much the most watched things on Disney+

So it ain't hurting them

You did not name any films. You said "young men, and boys, target audience, dislike woke more than the ones who like it."

So yes- box office performance is tied into that. If the target audience hates woke why are they still turning out in droves to the movies and shows?

Now- this is where you spin your wheels for 12 posts or yell "Squirrel" and try to misdirect the conversation. So have fun.

peenie, later in the thread, I clarified that I can't argue financial success, but a bad movie is a bad movie.

Quote

Black Panther: hey, let's get a bunch of black celebrities and have them show up on set. So, has anyone seen the script? Wait, we need a script. Ah, fock it. Roll film.

The movie was directionless, really didn't make much sense, and made Killmonger the most sympathetic character in the movie by a mile. Visually, asthetically, cinematically, scenic, whatever artsy fartsy other words could be used, the movie was stunning to the eye. But it was in the mud otherwise. And you kill off the interesting Klaue character at the beginning. Why? He was interesting in Avengers Age of Ultron, and you could have gotten more out of him. In fact, did anybody but Killmonger even try to act in the move? Maybe Black Panther's sister. But everybody else was walking around dosed on sleeping pills. I thought it was a miss by Marvel.

I fully understand that many will disagree. That's fine. I have an affinity to criticize movies/TV shows.
