Buzz Wokeyear

Recommended Posts

Just got around to downloading and attempting to watch with my 8 year old son.

1st off, Disney too cheap to pay Tim Allen. Huge downer there.

Movie starts with Buzz's partner, a black woman. Jump ahead 3 years in the movie, she is a Commander, who is a lesbian getting married to another dark woman. Jump ahead 3 more years, she is pregnant and ends up having a black girl, who ends up being Commander.  They end up having a crew of 4 people, Buzz is the only white person. One of them looked like a male Britney Grinder (redundant), Pathetic.

At least the cat was orange, props there.

I stopped watching and came into the office to come here and complain about it..

Exposing your kids to woke programming is good parenting? What's the point of this thread then?

Shame Disney lost so many customers on Disney+ and so much money over this movie. Just ask HT....just ignore their most recent fiscal report.

Woke is costing Disney profits.   They’ll probably keep some for the smaller productions, but as time goes on they won’t for their big budget ones.  They want that Chinese market they have lost with the woke stuff. It’s costing them profits.

Hey Jackass: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/thor-love-thunder-set-lose-184523577.html

Pay attention when @Hardcore troubadour says Disney is losing profits.  They are.  Thor is now the 7th film in a row to be blocked by china due to the woke horseshit.  They are losing profits - that's a fact.

They won't be able to shut out a market as large as China for long.  Something will have to give, and it won't be the Chinese.  Those are all potential profits down the toilet.  To the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars so far.

Pay attention to the date on my article versus yours. They aren't losing profits. One movie does not mean they are done. Furthermore they are making tons of money even without catering to China. That's a fact.

Take your loss and shut your mouth.

While you're at it jerkoff read this too:

Quote

Thor 4 has so far made 130 million less than Thor: Ragnarok (Thor:Love and Thunder is also not as good but...)

Doctor Strange 2 (also not released in China) did 280 million more worldwide than the previous Doctor Strange. Spider-Man: No Way Home (also not released in China) made 769 million more than the previous Spider-Man. 280 +769 is ~1.05 billion.

So take away 150 million from that because Thor has made less to this point. And factor out 145 million difference in budget for the films previous to the new one. and that leaves you with 754 million.

Yeah- Disney is doing fine still even without bowing to China. And that is even before you factor in that the other films not released in China made: Black Widow (~2x its budget), Shang Chi (~2.5x its budget), Eternals (~2x its budget).

Disney did their fiscal 3rd quarter numbers last Wednesday. Here are the highlights:

Quote

- Added 14 million new subscribers to their streaming services worldwide.

- Adjusted diluted earnings came in at 1.09 per share. That is up 36.25% year-over-year and above the predicted .97 per share.

- Disney+ total worldwide subscribers is now 222.1 million. 500,000 ahead of Netflix which means this is the first time in streaming history that Netflix is not #1 in total subscribers.

- Revenue was 21.5 billion which is ahead of the predicted 21 billion

- Parks revenue was 7.39 billion which was ahead of the 6.65 billion predicted.

- Stock prices up 6% today in after hours trading.

Enjoy that L for a second time

Oof. You lost this argument when you posted a motley fool article. Nothing more than paid pumpers/bashers. They put their spin on based on what they are told to do.

The only fact that matters is stock price dummy.  DIS is down 20% YTD and 30% since a year ago.  Compare that to the DOW at 8% and 5%. The company is hemorrhaging.  And make no mistake about it, it's the foreign market where DIS's future is.  They need China.

Another idiot.

Disney is not hemorrhaging, they are very financially sound right now.  Theme parks are doing great.  They have the most subscribers out of any service.  They are doing great.

That's an odd take.  They look to be thriving at the moment.

During the fiscal third quarter Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ combined to lose $1.1 billion, reflecting the higher cost of content on the services. Disney’s average revenue per user for Disney+ also decreased by 5% in the quarter in the U.S. and Canada due to more customers taking cheaper multiproduct offerings.

NEWS FLASH:  The bottom line to any company's success is the, you know, bottom line.  How much the company is worth.  There isn't anything to argue here. They've vastly underperformed their peers.

Which peers?  While their shares have been down since covid, they are recovering nicely recently.  Their business overall is outperforming.

The other 29 companies that make up the DOW 30.

The 3rd quarter earnings report you are gushing about is good news, and the stock price jumped up 4% based on that news.  That doesn't change the FACT that they were still down 22% for the year and 38% off their high from March 2021.  They did recover from covid nicely, problem is they have fallen huge since.  They are trading LOWER than pre covid prices right now.

Look if you think DIS is going to overcome the problems they are having right now, go ahead and invest.  There is no doubt the stock price is on sale right now.  It's your chance top own a piece of a historically great DOW 30 company.

If you don't think they are having problems and everything is awesome right now, my advise is to hire a financial advisor to invest your money for you because you have zero clue what you're are talking about.

to play weird devils advocate....

one might be able to make the assumption that a toy would have been voiced by the "person" it was modeled after. I am making the assumption that Buzz Lightyear the movie is about the "real person", prior to having his own action figures in the Toy Story franchise? So it's not a bad gripe to wish they had Tim Allen voice Buzz.

This is simply not true.  What peers?

Disney down 19% YTD

Paramount down 12% YTD

Warner Bros Discovery down 43%

Comcast NBC Universal down 19% YTD

Netflix down 58% YTD
