Harris is absolutely the worst and many of the democrats that strongly supported the defund the police need to go. Our local houston congresswoman is probably the loudest on this issue, but she is too dumb to concern herself with economic issues. This is why she gets behind the movements she can understand, even if her party doesnt care about it.

I remember the 100,00 cops initiative during the Clinton years.  The money then was for the initial hiring.  After that the burden fell to the Municipalities who could then not discharge the cops, protected as they were by civil srecvice systems.  Hiring sgtandards were relaxed to get them on board, not a good thing.. Some of the money went to reporting back to Washington the hires had been made.  Folks were impreseed by the number but dvided by 50 states and then across multiple municipalities in thsoe states the number was really not significant.  Currently it would not even counterf the attrition in most departments the past three years.  Still, it is a move in the right direction, a politcal survival move wherein there is taken no responsibility for the genesis of th problem, but still, a good move, a good fisrt step, but who cares?  If it is not accompanied by a rededication to prosecuting and incarcerating criminals it simply means 100,00 more cops will be doing catch and release.

No they weren't.  The media was in lock step with the politicians.  They feared the black people leaving the left because Trump's policies were helping them more than any other President.  They needed to pander to the blacks and other minorities who hate cops.  They wanted to make sure they call all those people to mail in a ballot for Biden.  Other Democrats didn't care because they just hated Trump because despite being an azzhat, he was good for the country.

I'm saying the media wasn't out of touch, they were completely dialed in with the politicians/Democrat party.  They all had the same message... demonize the police because Trump and Republicans a pro-police.  They made "Thin Blue Line" racist.  They wanted to ensure that minorities and white guilt'ers were voting straight blue.

I think Millenial's and Gen Z's are predominantly on the side of "defund the police".  I think your impression of the majority of Democrats not being in favor of that movement were the older generations.  They are not the majority of the party anymore.

The majority of the Democrat party is pro-BLM.  You can't be both, pro-BLM and anti-defund the police.  The two go hand-in-hand because that was the foundation of the new BLM movement.
