I never heard of them either.  When I saw "Takeoff" and "Migos", I thought a plane got shot down after take off on from some island called Migos.

After seeing it's rap, I'm not sure I understand the confusion on why or how this happened.    The simple truth of it is, rap is a "gang" culture music format.  It didn't start that way, but it's evolved into that.  I don't think you can rightfully ask "how does this happen", given the evolution of the music.  You reap what you sow.

 

Find me another music genre with this head count, and I'll change my mind.
