RedzoneMonster 102 Posted November 1, 2022 I’d say slight upgrade for Hock. Slight upgrade for Swift and ASB as well.

weepaws 2,460 Posted November 1, 2022 Big time help for MR Cousins, the middle of the field will be open for Hockensen to tally of the ff points.
IGotWorms 3,315 Posted November 1, 2022 Wow, that’s surprising. Thought Hockenson was a building block for the Lions. Decent haul though. Good move for Minny this year but did they give up too much? I can see the case for going big as they’re probably more competitive now than they can hope to be again anytime soon, but are they really a championship-caliber team? Guess it comes down to Cousins

I imagine they simply didn't intend to pay him his likely asking price after next season (and clearly they aren't close to competing before 2024).
joneo 529 Posted November 1, 2022 Traded away too much. Detroit won this trade.
jrokh 569 Posted November 1, 2022 Trade capital isn’t that much. The Vikings essentially swapped a 2nd for a 4th in this year’s draft and a 3rd for a 4th in next year’s draft. They got a guy who was a top ten overall draft pick.
easilyscan 559 Posted November 1, 2022 As a lifelong Vikings fan, I like the move, but think they overpaid. Sure, he was the 8th overall pick in the 2019 draft, but he only had one good (not great) year. weepaws 2,460 Posted November 1, 2022 I think it’s a very wise investment by the Vikings , it’s a big move for Cousins
skinsrule05 30 Posted November 1, 2022 I think this is a good tick-up for Hock. With Detroit getting healthier he was going to be even more of an after thought. Now he will be a top red zone threat.

I'm not sure about that. does cousins have a history of using his TE's? I dont think so. thats not to say he wont use Hock. hes likely never had a TE as talented as he is. but its not necessarily a lock that he will be better. AxeElf 787 Posted November 2, 2022 This will play havoc with Irv Smith Jr.'s fantasy value going forward.

IRV SMITHTE, MINNESOTA VIKINGS ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Irv Smith (ankle) is expected to be sidelined 8-10 weeks. Well, that helps explain some of the motivation behind the T.J. Hockenson deal for Minnesota. Smith would miss most if not all of the remainder of the season with this injury timetable. The 2019 second-rounder has played just 20 games in the last three years and will likely be available in free agency.

rallo 132 Posted November 3, 2022 I'm biased as a fan of the Hawkeyes, but this is a big upgrade over Irv Smith Jr... nice for Cousins, but even better for Dalvin Cook and the running game, IMO... Hockenson is a great run blocker at the TE position.
