Just read an article in the Las Vegas paper from a reporter who had six mail-in ballots accepted with him as the signer. If we don't start doing in-person voting with an ID, I think the whole process will become a sham...if it's not already.

He voted D I hope?

At least we're getting away from the centrists claiming they think Biden sucks.

It appears all the centrists are going to defend these Biden policies to the death.

Yet none of them voted for him. One of them wrote his sons name in.  Ohhhhhhkay!

US oil production is very close to the peak its ever been.

Yet all you hear from Trump cultist is "Biden killed American energy independence!"  What actually killed it, before Biden has brought it back, is the complete lack of demand which led to negative oil which caused companies to take production offline.

Simply supply and demand friends.  But don't worry.  Biden fixed the Rona, Trumpflation is coming down, best job market in history, and Putin is getting his teeth kicked in on the world stage thanks to a united-again thanks to Biden NATO.

Dude's doing work.

Honestly, I think slim.  Some will come over for shits and giggles, but I think many were actually on board with what FBGs was attempting to do with their boards (and probably wouldn't want to be on these boards), and the people who weren't feel like they are largely here already.

What was Joe doing with the boards?  I'm a lib and got suspended and banned more than anyone I'll wager.  He also allowed very horrible things to be said about Biden while calling Trump orange earned you a TO.

What exactly was Joe doing?  Oh yea, creating a liberal echo chamber with very friendly threads about liberals grooming kids and showing them how to do perverted things.  Not to mention just letting Jon puke up whatever alt right thoughts that jumped into his warped mind.  I make a thread about republicans being less educated than democrats (100% true) and banned.

Yes, a liberal echo chamber is exactly what Joe had going on there.

Your second paragraph isn’t bad, but the rest is.

How can you say “supply and demand” and in the very next sentence say “Trumpflation”?  Biden didn’t cause the initial inflation (although once again, he made it worse), but neither did Trump.  Covid caused it.  Demand + supply cratered in the beginning, but once things started opening up, demand came back much faster than supply, causing the inflation.

Trump added $8T to the debt.  He bullied the Fed to keep rates way low too long.  He actually bullied them to LOWER rates in '19.  Trump's tax cuts for the rich created a massive amount of new money chasing the same good.

No, Trump's not the cause of inflation, that's the Feds 10+ years of zero rates and free money.  But he's a phuk ton more responsible than Biden is.  Biden's $2T spending bill was stupid and made things worse for sure.

Gee, I sense some sarcasm here.     I am sure I am going to be branded a flaming leftist soon enough, and I am got a 1 month ban for God knows what right before they closed shop (excessive snarkiness maybe?).     Judging by my interactions with Joe,  I think it started with the desire to have a civil place for people to talk.   Not going to happen as the political divide ramps up.   A lot of left vs. right whining and bitching that it was the other that got the free pass they are being treated unfairly, but mostly I just saw people getting the boot for being to each other, which circling back to the civility part of my comment before and what I think finally wore Joe down.

The problem is, IMO they made a huge mistake by not keeping up posts and being more open about why people were getting kicked out, and in the end that just fosters animosity and the conspiratorial bitching that was prevalent.   Once you start editing, hiding, and deleting posts just shut the damn thing down, but they stupidly did that for years.

Most was morbid curiosity - how easy it is to tell, how quickly do the dumb HS level cliques snap into place.   Stuff like that.

Not hiding anything, I would be honest if asked if I am X from FBGs.   The truly annoying people are the ones where everybody knows WTF they are and they continue to post as though they aren't.  No intention of that.

If I follow the bolded logic, the tax cuts put money in peoples' hands, but there weren't enough goods for them to spend it on, hence inflation?  If so, is your solution then to tax them more to put it in the hands of the government to... do what with it exactly?

If you have even 1/10th of the financial savvy you claim, you know that all that matters in your 401k is contributions and time. The day by day rise and fall of the market is meaningless

Ding!

Anyone fidgety over their 401K doesn't understand market ebbs and flows and the concept of dollar-cost averaging, which means investing a fixed amount regularly, regardless of market conditions.

Anyone who hasn't been investing in the market since February or sold off asset is an ignorant moron.

Even during this year's market downturn, it never got below pre-COVID levels.

The Dow went from around 27,000 to 18,000 thanks to COVID in March 2020.

Then it roared back close to 37,000 just prior to the Russian invasion of your mom.

Then it dipped down to 27,000 - a full 2,000 above the pre-COVID peak - and has since come back close to $34,000.

Investors should be getting boners in bear markets, because that's where the fortunes are made.

I tossed a chunk into the market in April 2020 and made a lovely amount of money.

Instead of relying on good ol' macroeconomics and supply and demand concepts, why don't you channel your inner John Maynard Keynes and show us how smart you are on how the inflation occurred.

Here's a nice take to debunk, which you can't because you're profoundly ignorant and immature:

https://fortune.com/2022/10/14/why-is-inflation-high-3-things-recession-economy/

Supply chain snarls and parts shortages inflated the cost of factory goods when the economy rocketed out of the pandemic recession two years ago. Then it was a surge in consumer spending fueled by federal stimulus checks. Then Russia’s invasion of Ukraine disrupted gas and food supplies and sent those prices skyward.

Since March, the Federal Reserve has been aggressively raising interest rates to try to cool the price spikes. So far, there’s little sign of progress. Thursday’s report on consumer prices in September came in hotter than expected even as some previously big drivers of inflation — gas prices, used cars — fell for a third straight month.

Consumer prices, excluding volatile food and energy costs, skyrocketed 6.6% from a year ago — the fastest such pace in four decades. Overall inflation did decline a touch, mostly because of cheaper gas. But costlier food, medical care and housing pointed to a widening of price pressures across the economy.

High inflation has now spread well beyond physical goods to the nation’s vast service sector, which includes everything from dental care and apartment rents to auto repairs and hotel rates. The broadening of inflation makes it harder to tame. Thursday’s report underscored that the Fed may have to jack up its key short-term rate even higher than had been expected — and keep it there longer — to curb inflation.

Such action would mean even higher loan rates for consumers and businesses. It could also cause recessions in both the U.S. and global economies, international financial officials warn. Higher U.S. rates encourage investors to pull money from foreign markets and invest it in U.S. assets for a higher return, a shift that can cause upheaval in overseas economies.

Here’s what’s driving persistent inflation and what it means:

Spending still holding up — for some

Consumers, on the whole, are still managing to spend more, even though average wage gains over the past year haven’t kept up with inflation. Many businesses, particularly larger corporations, have taken advantage of rising wages and increased consumer savings from government stimulus checks to raise their prices.

PepsiCo, for example, said Wednesday that while purchases by volume fell 1% in the third quarter of the year, it was able to boost prices 17% without losing customers.

“We obviously exited the third quarter with the consumer still very healthy in terms of our particular categories,” the company’s chief financial officer, Hugh Johnston, told investors.

Too bad you get a vote then.  You're doing it wrong.

I know.  I am probably doing it wrong because I don't vote R across the board without putting thought into it.  I get it.

I have decades before retirement, as others have said, you go with the ebbs and flows.  I wish it was all +s all the time, but I think you guys are severely overestimating how much the POTUS is directly effecting your 401(K).  Lots of other factors, and they can make it better or worse for sure.   Why in the world would you base your presidential vote on your investment in a major way? Unless people are pointing out - you are at the end of the road and looking to get out.    What I find hard to believe is that many of you railing on me about my method of voting would vote for a Dem for president if your 401K was down after a 4 years term of a R president.   I could be wrong, but I'd guess you are voting R anyway, and just also think a benefit of that is it helps your investments as well.

Economy in general outside of investments and 401Ks?   Now I think that is higher priority as it also effects more people.   Higher on my list, but still not at the top, but I get why it would be for others.   But if Tues showed us anything, it might be that we are also overestimating how much the general public is voting on general economy vs. other issues.   If it was economy, I would have expected Biden and the Ds to get destroyed.
