What’s everyone up tonight for Christmas Eve? Just got back from my moms side of the family’s Christmas party. Usually a lot of us there since my grandma had 8 kids and each of them have at least 2 kids. Ended up with over 40 people there tonight. Now, wife and I are back home watching Jingle All the Way while I sip on some alcoholic eggnog. Wife is playing around with the Christmas train by the tree. Overall, a good night and wishing you fellas a merry Christmas Eve

Just got home from my grandmothers. We usually all meet for a seafood dinner at her house. 
 

 

I assume craftsman is on an alias so he can continue posting here 24/7 even on Christmas “without anyone knowing”

Got screwed over on paperwork on the flight to the US on the 13th. Family's been in a hotel in Shanghai since then, I've had to return to Panzhihua, get the paperwork and rejoin them a few days ago. The cost to reschedule/fly before Christmas was insane so we rescheduled for the 28th. 

Sure one of the worst Christmases ever, but we've had our helmets and game faces on for two weeks now, just keep waiting for these two lost weeks to end on the 28th.

Don't mean to be a downer. Merry Christmas to the rest of you.

Woke up with an early Xmas present...the wife is pregnant with #2!  Obviously very early in the pregnancy, so we had to keep it secret today at the Xmas party with my side of the family.  Damn!  We have a 4 year old, it will be hard to envision a second child at 43.  Oh well, the more the merrier!

Are you Polish?  I am, and we always had seafood on Christmas Eve until, well... yesterday, when we ate at my daughter's place.  I mentioned in another Christmas thread that my son was at his girlfriend's family last night; this daughter is a vegan so we ate enchiladas with fake meat (it actually wasn't half bad).  A few glasses of wine helped the cause.

Our friends hosted dinner last night (same ones we do ski trips with and came over for Thanksgiving). Very fun, relaxing evening with good food and wine.  

We'll do presents when the girls wake up. Daughter requested a quiche this morning. I'll get that rolling shortly.

They with head north to Healdsburg later to spend some time with her boyfriend's parents.  I work tomorrow so will stay home and watch football

It was the traditional Prosecco last night with the annual viewing of 'It's a Wonderful Life'.  Wife opted for shrimp cocktail over the usual cheese ball ...

I totally whiffed on Jingle All the Way this year ... I will rectify that today or this evening during whichever game turns into a dud.

Tradition has us eating quiche for brunch/lunch today ... jalapeno!

I don't know how she does vegan to be honest.  I could maybe almost pull off vegetarian, with eggs and dairy included.  OK not really.  But gun to head, I probably wouldn't pick the gun in that case.

Doing something different this year we took our two young adult children to an indoor water park arrived late yesterday afternoon. They're having a Christmas buffet today we got reservations at 3, then some more drinks and hot tubs and water slides again while checking in on the football games here and there. Merry Xmas geeks

Already a girl dad, and it isn't so bad....yet.

But yes, I am definitely hoping for a little Dre to eventually throw the football around with and teach how to fix stuff.

Just got done cooking two bone in ribeyes for the dogs. Gave them each their own steak. Took a raw tuna steak and sliced that into small, thin pieces for the cats cause they LOVE the tuna when we get sushi. 
 

Catahoula ate his entire steak, bone included. Red lab is carrying her bone around like a trophy showing it off. Wife is at work so it’s just us at the house. Got some more alcoholic eggnog and flipping it back & forth between the Bucks/Celtics and the Bucs/Cardinals. Hope you fellas are enjoying your night as much as I am

It's the cooked bones, when they are cooked they turn brittle and splinter and can get lodged in the dogs digestive tract.  We give our dog raw bones, but not cooked.

My dog would absolutely lose his s*** for that little round bone that you find in ham steaks. I got to admit I've popped a few in my mouth a few times too. Somehow, that meat on the inside of the circle is freaking delicious.

Smaller bones tend to splinter more, like rib bones.  We've given our lab raw beef leg bones before, but that's it.

I was wondering why you cooked it at all if you're going to give it to a dog.  But yeah, a rare steak doesn't have a cooked bone and giving dogs warm meat isn't a bad idea. 

I don't worry about these morons having dogs, they are breeding and actually responsible for children.  Poor kids.

I like to at least grill it a few minutes and give them a med rare steak. I salt and pepper them slightly as well. I just don’t tenderize and marinate them & only cook them 2 minutes per side. Enough to cook it and kill any bacteria.

You don't need to worry about bacteria for dogs, their digestive tract isn't long enough that they are susceptible to e coli, salmonella, etc.  Raw meat is fine.

Also, no spices for dogs.   The only time you'd want to add salt to a dog's diet is if they were on a completely raw meat diet and even then you'd be better off using a supplement.  Otherwise they get plenty of salt from their normal dog food.  No pepper.  No onion.  Just stay away from all spices.
