Last of Us. - A lot too woke with the Bill and Frank

Did anyone watched the latest episode.  It was pretty good and very similar to the video game.  I'm really enjoying this series so far, just wish I didn't have to wait each week for a new episode.

It might have been worse than the gay woke episode.

A bunch of get to know each other feel good between the kid and guy, very little action.  Me to the wife at the start of the only action in the episode: "She'll end up saving him with her gun and they will have to talk about it the rest of the episode."   Yep.

I disagree with the similar to the video game in a sense. It's really rushed. Elements are all there and I think that is where you are going with this. They are hitting key items even if it required Elli to steal a gun rather than take one sitting on the scene of Joel getting choked out. They could have easily in that sense let Elli just plausibly find a gun on the scene an shoot the guy out. But maybe they weren't sure how that would all go so they took no chance in episode 3 and had her steal the gun. So I get it.

The trend in the show is that they are cutting out a lot of fighting scenes, I'm guessing because they want more story. But that is moving things really quickly. Which brings me up to Roger's take on it. Which I understand but there seems to be a bit of a rush moving along here.

It's really interesting you mention this because I said before this episode that I thought that one of the more important parts of the game was how Joel came around to accepting Elli as more than just a job. I mentioned this to my girlfriend that it would take another couple episodes for that to come through and at first it showed that way in episode 4. He told her in the car that she was not considered family and that she is just cargo. Which aligns with the game.

But then, it all happened fast. And by the end of the show Joel crossed the line into caring. It was not that quick or quickly apparent in the game. The action in the game slowly allowed it to evolve.

To both you and @Hawkeye21, the one bad thing I think about this movie based upon episode 4 action, is that I am almost out on Elli in the show. Elli in the game was kind of fake tough, and would swear and such, but she needed acceptance and was much more respectful and naive. This show's Elli is a punk. She's bltchy and over confident and acts way older than her age and experience. The Elli in the game was tough, but it was because she had to be, but she was much more innocent a human. The TV Elli basically dismissed the video game and she was stupidly pushy with her joke book and flat out told Joel that she would get in his face when she wanted to.

The one exception to Elli in the game being stupid was when she ran from Tommy's compound on the horse. But I think that was an aberration from the norm.

Elli is the one real drawback for me for this series and I hope they scale her back a bit moving forward.

Do we know how many episodes this is going to be?  Usually a season is about 10 episodes so I think it's movingly along fine so far.

I'm not comparing to the game because I haven't played the game (it is on my list now).

As far as an entertaining tv show that last episode dragged.

There is definitely a dIfference between those who played and are watching vs. those who have not played. If you like these kind of games, it's a MUST play.

All caught up, great show so far.  The gay episode was really well done, as long as you don't mind gays.

Except for Bella Ramsey's character Ellie - she is insufferable.  Any one with critical review/thinking skills can see this as plain as day:

🤣

Nerds will be upset about anything though.  It's a freakin' show based on a video game.      All the game nerds get mad because it's not enough like the game.  Other people get mad because it's too "woke".

Man, we have a lot of time on our hands as a culture (and I realize I am 100% describing myself here).

I never heard of the video game.

At first the girl annoyed me but she's had some great character development and I really like her now.

I don't care about woke.

I'm going to be pissed if they drastically change the storyline in the next episode.   The next bit of the game was one of my favorite parts due to how dark it was

CANNIBALS MUTHAFOCKAS!!!

:pointstosky:

They've understandably had to tweak the story a bit so far but they've managed to hit the important plot points.   Not sure if the skimping on action at the University in Colorado will force them deviate on the next part.

Last weeks episode was complete woke garbage.

This week was better, but barely Walking Dead effort.  Nobody drags the entire deer/horse back home.

The one girl was annoying as fock too. When she did that fake screaming to bait Ellie to come back I was hoping Ellie would put one between her eyes

This last episode was pretty great and reminded me a lot of the game.  Well done.

I thought this week was awesome. The short commentary the writers/directors give was awesome too.

The flashback/backstory episodes are okay, I get that they are done for character development, but they can be boring

The Ron Swanson/Ellie is a lesbian ones didn't bother me, they were just boring.

The series is great. Looking forward to the final episode.

I wonder if they had decided to make it twice as long if it would have worked out well. They really got to the point and moved it along quickly.

Glad they did the portion of the game with the cannibals justice. Several of the scenes were pretty spot on.

As a bonus the Joel voice actor made his cameo.  He played the character James.

There shouldn't be many episodes left.  There will be one more season based off of the second video game.

On the commentary after the show, she said that the guy was keeping her and picturing her as his little "wife" since she had so much strength and violence in her heart (like he tells her while she's caged up).

the CW had the DC comics shows.  some were more woke than others.  however once they got established, they pushed more and more woke in ensuing seasons until everyone fled.  so its likely if this show makes it to season 2, itll be 1000x more woke than season 1.

That's kind of how I felt about animal kingdom. It was a great show at first. And Ellen Berstyn was fantastic - especially for her age.

But then suddenly out of nowhere they started showing graphic gay sex.

... And then I stopped watching.

Sure, it was to go jerk off. But it impacted my viewing.

I have enjoyed this show quite a bit.  I was a little bored after the first episode thinking it was gonna be another zombie show but glad I kept going.

Also it's gotta suck for some of you to always succumb to the woke outrage as you've been trained, as opposed to just enjoying.

Yeah, I started out wanting to punch the little girl in the face at the beginning of the series, to now loving every scene she’s in. I had also forgot she was in GoT-where she killed it as Lady Mormont.

I don't think I'd enjoy watching anything if every time it made me get outraged about something.

In fact, I think there's very little I actually get "outraged" about, or boycott something. If it's related to TV/movies, I usually boycott due to one of the actors being focking terrible, or the storyline being incredibly boring or predictable.

Great ending show. Stuck to the storyline in the last episode as they should have. Best storyline and ending in video game history and the making of the show didn't fock it up.

Straight forward series, no screwing around to try to stretch it into 2 or 3 seasons. I give the show an A+ in the end. Bravo.

On one hand they have the worst actor in television right now paired with an autistic actress.

On the other that was a pretty dark episode killing a bunch of humans trying to save humanity for one girl and then lying to her about it.

Yep. Start to finish. Joel was played great, but the only actor I didn't like a ton was Ellie, but she ended up doing a decent job. She was a touch over the top but not bad at all in the end.

There is a Last of Us 2 game, but it doesn't compare to the first one. I would watch it if they make it.

Crap. I read that they approved a second season but I guess it will be different actors. Won't be as good but I'll still watch. Finale was wild last night watching Joel go all John Wick.

I've played Last of Us complete through probably 5-10 times.

I think I'll play Last of Us Part 2 again for the second time. See if I have a renewed view of it.

Isn't Ellie a tranny in Part 2?  I'm asking because I've never played the games but heard Part 2 seriously went bat-sh#t woke with Druckman.

It went a little bat shlt. Not a tranny that I can recall. She's been a lesbo since the beginning. But overall it's more of a focus on a younger more "liberal" crowd of characters.

The main theme early on is the doctor that Joel killed at the end of Last of Us 1 to save Elli, has a daughter who is after him for killing her dad. Then it's basically a game of Elli vs. that chick if I am remembering correctly. I seriously played through it and forgot about it almost instantly. There definitely is a tranny in that game though. And Elli being gay is a big deal in that one as well.

Now that some of it is coming back, It is really woke. 🤮 Maybe that's why I didn't play it again.
