I stand by my assertion that he was punished for his views, and once he demonstrated the correct amount of contrition for daring to produce facts that refute the liberal religious tenet of "the world is racist" he was given scraps of his former life back.

Bayard Rustin (1912-1987)

Claudette Colvin (1939- )

Black history month is a celebration of contributions that blacks have made to society.  The fact that you're arguing for the validity of Walmart fighting videos to be part of black history month is a clear indicator of your racism.

As we've learned recently by the destruction of statues, renaming of historical places, and constant reminder of slavery

You can't separate the good and bad in history. In fact we should focus on all past wrongs more so than the rights.

Annie Lee Cooper (1910-2010)

The Selma, Alabama, native played a crucial part in the 1965 Selma Voting Rights Movement. But it wasn't until Oprah played her in the 2014 Oscar-nominated film Selma that people really took notice of Cooper's activism. She is lauded for punching Alabama Sheriff Jim Clark in the face, but she really deserves to be celebrated for fighting to restore and protect voting rights.
