Students and parents are calling for culture changes at a New Jersey high school a week after a 14-year-old freshman died by suicide.

 

Adriana Olivia Kuch killed herself on Feb. 3, days after a video of her being attacked by four classmates spread around Central Regional High School in Bayville, her father Michael Kuch told NJ Advance Media.

 

He is demanding action from the school district, and students on Wednesday staged a walkout to protest bullying, News 12 New Jersey reported.

Sad stuff.  Bullying isn't anything new.  What is new is the addiction to social media and getting it from all angles and obsessively caring what people put on say facebook.   

Not sure what can be done.  There has been a rise in "bullying awareness" over the years.....but "awareness" in general doesn't do much of anything.  

Kids suck.  Bullying sucks.

I am all for teachers power bombing fighting kids.    But then they get in trouble.  

Start kicking kids out of school who repeatedly start trouble.  Otherwise not sure what can be done because like criminals, kids hold way more leverage and power these days.

The question that needs to be asked is what’s going on in that school, and so many others, that the perps thought they could do that, in school no less? No discipline, thats why.

I feel many teachers wish they could discipline students.  The whiny ass parents of these punks are the real issue IMO.

I agree. Teachers don’t like this chaos. It’s the administration that won’t stand up to these parents of the trouble makers. Teachers can only report what’s going on. After that it’s out of their hands. But I do think, no, I know, that teachers are intimidated to not speak out about certain students. And I get it.

There’s an endless supply of black on white violent crime videos on the internet. Jeff called me a poosey for pointing this out and now he is starting a thread about it. It is apparent to normal people whatever the left is doing to manage and correct this in our urban areas is having the opposite effect.

I had my fair share of fights in HS. But we waited until school was out and met off school grounds. We knew if we did it during school on school grounds everyone was getting suspended.  And the times where a fight did happen in school everyone was.  Now there isn’t that same level of fear.

Yeah. It was mostly dirtbags and upper class-men. That’s how I rolled. My most brutal, knock down fight was because some POS was picking on a special needs kid. He did it in front of the wrong guy. I took my lumps but it was worth it. You shoulda seen the other guy though.  He went to prison for arson years later.

Terrible story.

Just saw the other day, some doctor/group saying that kids shouldn't even be allowed on social media until they are 16. After reading this, doesn't seem like a terrible idea.
