This story seems like a bigger deal than it’s being portrayed as. Even here we only have just over 1 pg about it. I’ve seen photos and videos all over Twitter about the toxicities that’s in the air covering cars and other surfaces 50+ miles away.

I've seen plenty of people on social media trying to discuss the severity of it but not much for national media.  Something strange is going on.  I saw a video of one reporter being arrested.  Officials there were saying it was safe but I don't see how that's possible.  Their rivers are polluted and killing wildlife already.  The rain is leaving behind residue and is most likely acid rain.

This is what it's like when you have  the most focked up administration in history running the country. The checkbox that is in charge of transportation was just told to make a statement 11 hours ago because it was getting destroyed by fox news.  That's 10 days after it happened.

TL/DR: corporate greed is probably the biggest factor here.

Obama tried putting in a rule that required trains carrying hazardous materials to install better brakes

However, due to corporate pressure what was covered was reduced and ultimately it would have exempted trains carrying this material anyway.

Trump then repealed the whole thing, and Biden/Buttigieg apparently have no plans to reinstate it.

Meanwhile, railroads spent almost $200 billion on stock buybacks and cut 30% of their workforce.

 

Crazy fact but apparently this train was 1.8 miles long.

I don’t think it’s mutually exclusive to think that the initial influx of chemicals is what killed the wildlife, but that it’s safe now after the stuff has dissipated

The most extreme theories center around a depopulation agenda.  Those are a bit out there.

The less extreme theories are that the chemicals released/blown up are much worse for people and the environment, farm life and wildlife than the government is leading on.  This is propped up by the local hazmat expert claiming they basically nuked the town.  faith in the government doing what is best for the people is gone and the lack of this being a major story only seems to add fuel to the fire.  

The rail company cutting corners should be the #1 story in America, but the same people who own the railways, own the media, so its not.
