I don’t agree with this latest complaint and I think it’s basically bad behavior (like Kanye whining about Taylor Swift beating out Beyoncé). But you’re wrong in attempting to assign ulterior motives to the folks who make these sort of complaints. Their motives are exactly what they say they are. They believe that minorities are underrepresented in Hollywood in general,,and at the Oscars in particular. I agree with them historically, disagree with them in this case. But their views are honestly made. Then why the constant whining after decades of progress and wins by minorities? Because "equality" (actually, equity is what they want) isn't what they're after. It's money and power. They did the same thing South Africa and once they got what they wanted (that money and power I've been talking about) they started a revenge campaign against white people, taking their land, money and in some cases "disappearing" them. Top Gun, sure, it's exactly the movie you thought it would be. Too predictable, might as well have been a remake. Women Talking and Febelmans both got turned off after 30 minutes or so. Not good enough to get me invested. Everywhere doesn't get me excited, but, will have to try it at some point. Avatar - if you're a child I guess, or never saw the first one. Elvis, dumb. Tar, never heard of it before last night. All Quiet has me interested and definitely on my list now. But, does it bring anything the other 100 war movies made before it didn't? That's the bigger problem. The movies Hollywood have been putting out the last 5 years or so are complete crap for the most part.

I think that's why a movie as overall dumb as Elvis actually got nominated. It's NOT a good movie. At all. Best actor nom for the kid? Yeah I can see that. Tom Hanks got a frickin razzie for his portrayal of Colonel Parker for crying out loud. And he deserved it. And really..Everywhere was interesting, different whatever. People act like old white men have a monopoly on unfairness.... Except everyone who's ever had power in the world has abused it. But the wokies leaders are all pure as new driven snow and are beyond reproach. That's why this equity money grab is a bad strategy. No one is going to argue with "treat everyone the same." People aren't going to get in line with "everyone gets the same outcome" I respect the play. It'll be awhile before people are as scared to push back as they are these days, but they're overplaying the hand. This is why I keep saying people don't understand how to not be racist. Right now people like tim think that not being racist means to do whatever wokesters say. But people will figure it out... Disagreeing with shìtty ideas isn't being racist.

Always have This was the first time in quite a while I got to all the Best Picture nominees. Tar was my favorite by a bit. I was a fan of Todd Field's first two movies too (In the Bedroom and Little Children), so if you don't like those you might not dig it. At the very least, I think people will like the scene where she takes down a student who isn't "into" old white male composers. My next faves were Top Gun, Fabelmans, and Banshees. I am so glad I got to see Top Gun in the theater. I barely ever get to the theater, but go to that and Avatar at least this year. There are some things I found funny about Triangle, but I wouldn't recommend that to anybody in here. The rest I liked, but didn't love - except Elvis. That was the only one I actively disliked. Like you said, the main actor was actually damn good, but I wanted to murder somebody after about 15mins of Hanks and that voice over. Then I sat there for about 2 1/2 more hours. Fock that movie. IMO all the other wins in those categories were a joke and should have gone to Banshees and Tar. But I get it - those actors were campainging, and there were a lot of good feely stories that voters fell for like usual.

But it doesn't seem like you enjoy much of anything, which makes me wonder why you were watching the Oscars to begin with. What have you liked in the last couple years? I disagree that there hasn't been anything, but that also depends on what and why you watch. Unless you really love GCI and comic book movies, there aren't a ton of action movies that interest me anymore.
