They may have but ultimately it hurt the bottom line which is why they finally capitulated (and why else would have finally given in unless it was costing them or would cost them money?). I believe these policies were preventing them from expanding into new locations in some states, and the location they had set up in the UK was a bust due to the boycott.

The Oracle, the shopping mall group where the restaurant leases space, told the BBC that it would not allow Chick-fil-A to stay beyond its “initial six-month pilot period” and that it was their “right” after a call to boycott the chain by Reading Pride, a local lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender advocacy group.

Chick-fil-A said it had only planned to stay at that location for a limited time anyway.

“We have been very pleased with the lines and vibrant sales since opening Oct. 10 and are grateful for customer response to our food and our approach to customer service,” the company said on Saturday. “We mutually agreed to a six-month lease with the Oracle Mall Group in Reading as part of a test market.

You suckers fall for anything. Bud light on the other hand is tripling down on failure and it's awesome to watch.

No LGBTQ bigotry expressed here.

Like I have said  I do feel sorry for the working people affected by this and that would be the only reason I lighten up. But that stupid woke  idiot that caused all this is probably in the Hamptons right now. And a Bud light won’t be anywhere near her either. Never was, but she was in charge of it.

And how many locations in the UK did they ever open after that? Was it because the Brits don't like a "yummy chicken sandwich"?

Anti phag is not wrong. It's normal. Kids who are groomed into being head cases about sexuality are a tragedy. What you sick focks are doing is worthy of the death penalty. Guys can't be girls no matter how many drugs you pump into them. You are stupid to think so. You are the bigot against normals.

We are talking boycotts being effective or not.

Sales have "never" decreased during any time frame.  Only increased every single year.  The so called boycott years still yielded record sales numbers.

It wasn't a marketing campaign. She was VP of the brand and, as such, she was, unfortunately, given some leeway to make some minor calls here and there. As a younger exec, she was probably more familiar with social media and told the higher ups that she had a great idea for a social media outreach idea.

This was not a nation wide or even a regional marketing campaign. It was a one off. And she got fired for it. The dude himself has complained that BL has ghosted him since this all went down.

People are making more out of this than it ever should've been.

Yes, everyone loves CLA which is why they never had to change their corporate donations policies due to a boycott.

You sound like a complete f'n idiot:

Mike Hunt:  "We are talking boycotts being effective or not.  Sales have "never" decreased during any time frame.  Only increased every single year.  The so called boycott years still yielded record sales numbers."

Squiztard: "But that still doesn't stop the brown beetle from looking for food!!  Hah!  Gotcha!  I win!!"

Your whole strategy on this board is to basically try and distract or diverge from the points of the debate with nonsensical responses because you can't argue on the merits of your own argument.

I agree that she made a major  blunder, but being promoted to VP she lacked knowledge of her consumers.  Bud Light was never going to be the "classy upscale" beer.  It is younger sports fans, older sports fans, college kids,  partiers.

Squid takes everything as "anti-gay"  that is not the case at all.  The Bud Light consumer want beer, not political statements.

That was her big mistake that cost the company 30% of a huge market.  For that she deserved to be fired.

I wish more would boycott it here.  The parallel lines at my local ones are always wrapped around the building.  Started doing mobile ordering and parking and going inside.

She clearly didn't understand her target demo and AB paid the price for allowing her the freedom they gave her.

Hopefully everybody learned a lesson.

Anheuser Busch was just unlucky. Poor timing and a swell of events cascading all at once. It's not really Bud Light or Mulvaney as much as "woke fatigue" by a large cross section of America right now.

It could have easily been the next company in line that did something.

I will say this though, the entire Mulvaney thing is going to put lots of people on guard. IMHO it's not "transphobia", it's that Mulvaney doesn't look 'natural'  It's unsettling for people to keep being told they will be punished for not accepting something that doesn't make sense with their own eyes ( i.e. the risk of being "cancelled" for refusing to call Mulvaney a "woman" )  That's far deeper into basic human nature than some kind of transphobia. Are there people out there who are transphobic? Sure, but I'm doubtful it's in the extreme numbers suggested by the activist left leaning MSM and most of Big Social Media.

If everything is "racist", then what is the power of accusing someone of racism anymore?

If everyone is a "bigot", then what is the power of accusing someone of being bigoted anymore?

I will admit that I underestimated how incredibly soft the right could be and continue to be so upset over something so dumb.  It was only a few months ago so it's still early.  I'd like to revisit this again at the end of the year and see if they were able to recover some, if at all.  If Bud Light never does recover then I will be impressed at the success of the boycott.

The boycott is already a success.  Or do you think AB WANTED to lose millions/billions in revenue?  That money is gone, regardless of whether they regain their lost market share.  But let's assume they lose 5% of that 30% market share permanently.  I think that's a reasonable assumption.  I hope you'd agree that there are at least SOME people who never return to being regular BL drinkers who were previously.  If they lose 5% permanently that's a lot of money in and of itself.  In any case, the boycott has already been a success and will be used in college courses for a long time.

It has absolutely had short term success, you're right.  I was thinking more long term though.

You'd have to define your parameters for success.  They've lost 30% of their sales for the last few months.  Does it have to stay at that level?  I mentioned 5% as what I think a reasonable long term loss is likely to be.  Would that be a success?  I think so.  I don't think anyone ever cared whether BL ceased to exist when they started boycotting the brand.  People are just sick of certain marketing tactics.  I think a lot of corporations got that message and will more discerning in how they market their product.  To me that's a win.

I don't think he ever said that.  Not boycotting the other brands doesn't mean he supports them.  It means he's indifferent.  I think his point was always that ONE brand had to take the fall, and BL was it.  That doesn't mean he's gonna run to the other brands.  I could be wrong  and HT can speak for himself, but that was my take.
