2000 isn't the 70s.  But seems like a steady rise.  But even in the early 2000s parents teachers and coaches were all less forgiving.   Mental health wasn't such a subject.   And I doubt doctors shoved benzos down young people's throats at the rate they do today.  Yet less rates of suicide.   

So not sure if being tougher on kids created anymore problem.  Seems like the more coddling and sympathetic we get the rates have just risen.  

One can point to social media and I get that.  But seems like the increase has been fairly steady from no social media to early social media to full blown everyones on social media.  

As we get more progressive as a society and more forgiving, it seems like people are less happy.

If you're looking for studies on authoritative parenting style and its effects on kids, there are many many out there, and they mostly fall in the same conclusion, that it's detrimental to the child's mental health.

I don't think I've seen an article about it that doesn't point to noticeable spikes in depression, suicide, loneliness, weight gain, etc.. correlating with cell phones, especially with the onset of social media and the first times they were readily in our pockets.   Only going to get worse as more and more AI is introduced.   I think people actually underestimate the damage that tech has done - just look around.

Parenting is tough, its challenging.

I have a variety of kids and each one required a different set of skills and approach.  Adapting your style and approach based on the needs of the kid is how it is done. If you want good results you have to really pour yourself into it. 

If you do not parent well your kids do poorly in school, they get arrested, they have kids too young and out of wedlock......and they blame everyone else for it.....

Marketing mistakes happen all the time be it big or small mistakes.  This was a big one that cost an unheard of 30% market share drop.  

Not sure what the sales drop-off Coke had with new Coke but this has to be one of the biggest blunders of all time.

Agree.  Whats done is done. Now the move should be to learn from it, and adjust.  

The problem faced is interesting, to me.   It was absolutely a reasoned gamble to tout the trans mental illness dogma.  I mean, think about it, most of the normal people just take it....they are living their lives, they shrug and get back to work. Its the radical crazies on the left....the trannies....and others.....who are virulent, violent and loud.....if you are doing the math, pandering to the crazies is a pretty safe bet.

The misstep here was they they did it.....and then immediately impugned their traditional customers.
