Biden Building the Wall

Recommended Posts

There must be enough negative feedback now for them to stop pretending and lying.

Imagine how bad it must be getting for them to do this

It would be nice to actually have some border security again, I guess we should be grateful

I believe in border security. But I doubt a wall is such a good idea.

All the border security in the world isn’t going to solve this problem though. What we need is to reform our immigration system. And even more importantly than that, we need to address the reasons these people are coming here: terrible economic conditions caused by political instability and man made climate change. If we don’t address these fundamental issues we could build a thousand walls and it won’t stop our problems.

 Sticking them in airports to live on the floors in a terminal is definitely biden's "safe, orderly and humane way" of handling the immigration process. We already know that the liberal run cities of America were all for a massive rush of illegals and they all said they were sanctuary cities. Until they were called upon their words. Then, nope, ship them somewhere else.

Mayorkas cites ‘immediate need’ to waive regulations, build border wall in Texas as immigration surge

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is citing an "acute and immediate need" to waive dozens of federal laws to build a border wall in south Texas where illegal migration has surged.

It's a sharp contrast to dismissals of the use of such barriers in the early days of the administration.

The agency posted an announcement on the U.S. Federal Register that outlines construction in Starr County in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, where the administration says there is "high illegal entry." The agency says there have been over 245,000 migrant encounters in the sector this fiscal year.

Mayorkas says he is using his authority provided by Congress to waive 26 federal laws, including the Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and Endangered Species Act.

"There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas pursuant to sections 102(a) and 102(b) of [the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996]," Mayorkas said.

The administration had put a halt to new border wall construction in early 2021, after Biden had promised as a presidential candidate that there would "not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration." The administration said wall construction under the Trump administration was "just one example of the prior administration’s misplaced priorities and failure to manage migration in a safe, orderly and humane way."

I thought the Administration just recently sold off stockpiled materials for building the wall at pennies on the dollar.  Will they be buying those materials back now at dollars on the penny?

the left has no principles, wether here in a tiny forum where they launch scores of personal attacks and guilt trips and ruin threads they dont like, or at the national level where they try to destroy trump for building a wall and then are cool with biden building a wall.  trolls all the way down.

I truly never understood the "it won't help that much" argument from those against the wall.  What's the harm?   seriously.....We all know a wall isn't going to make the problem magically disappear, and that always seems to be their disagreement.  Yeah we know it won't fix it all, but seriously what's the harm in building a wall?

Do you ignore all the personal attacks from everyone else?  You know it's not just from one group of people here.

Not one liberal in here to call old Joe a racist for building the wall now. The media and liberals had no problem calling Trump and Republicans racist for wanting a wall.

Remember how they would say absolutely asinine things like "you don't want a wall along the Canadian border. You just want to keep out brown people". No dumb dumb! The problem is the southern border. Not the northern one. 🤦‍♂️

The harm is that it sends a terrible message to the world, the opposite of the Statue of Liberty.

Building the wall isn’t racist. It’s just stupid and poor policy. Trump’s overall approach to illegal immigration was certainly racist. And he does want to keep out non-whites, no question.

I've changed my stance on it.  Build the wall and shut the border down.  It's been a disaster down there.

I don't think it has to be much more complicated than thinking it's a waste of tax dollars.    I always thought the wall was dumb because it's not fixing core things that are leading to this - mainly jobs/benefits when they get here and our horrible asylum process.

It's a very good question you are asking, and it's an issue that should be discussed more often.

In 2015, analyst Mark Penn worked for the Clinton campaign. He kept pointing out that Team Blue, Obama and particularly Clinton, could not just keep blindly countering EVERYTHING that Trump and the Republicans did and wanted for the raw sake of opposing it. That some of the issues in play, that SOME of the policies that the GOP wanted would actually help working class people, and to aggressively try to stop it would turn large sections of the working class against the Party at the voting booth. Not to mention remove actual help to every day rank and file people.

Penn was fired. He was fired for saying that Clinton could not keep ignoring working class America. And that even women voters would turn to Trump or any Republican, if only because being working class and the struggles there would mean more than the ideals of some kind of feminist campaign narrative. So what happened? Clinton lost and one of the major factors was that both college educated and especially non college educated white adult women voted for Trump and Republicans down the ticket enough to turn the election.

If the GOP wants something, Team Blue will dogmatically oppose it. If it punishes the working class to aggressively try to come after that issue, they clearly don't care. The majority of staffers that work for elected officials in the Democratic Party are, on the average, under the age of 28, have not worked in any other industry, are college educated and recruited out of college, and have close to no contact with the vaunted poor white rural Christian America that keeps being demonized. These are the people who do most of the legwork for the nuts and bolts of policy.

It's the same problem with electric vehicles. A lot of Democrats in office and those that work for them are completely baffled why everyone in America is not driving an EV right now. Because they exist in a tiny little bubble and don't have to suffer for it.

The wall is only part of it, sure it will help of course, but we would still need to position people, a reaction force down there to immediately take these people back to their countries of origin.

Congress has had the opportuinty to "fix the immigration policy" as they all love to tout....and has done nothing of course.  Democrats want a flood of people they hope to add to their voter roles and their big business overlords want the cheap labor.  They only care about today and perhaps tomorrow....what can they squeeze out of it all, with no regard to the years ahad....thats someone elses problem.... focking losers.

This was never about a humanitarian cause. Anyone pushing that is a liar. This is about power. If they were coming here and voting against abortion and for guns they wouldn’t get a sniff of the border.

THAT"S the harm? JFC..Get off feelings man.   Seriously.   If that's your argument, that's just silly.  But then again, liberal thinking.   Feelings before logic.  Wow

We spend TRILLIONS on other things.....So to say this is a waste of tax dollars is one of the dumbest arguments against this.   Outside of how it makes us look, which is 1000X  dumber

Gov Abbott has been building it.  But the more the better.  Funny how they change their tune once the sanctuary cities start getting overrun.

Yep, but at least the double spending of the money still makes it into the American economy.  American Companies.  America first.

Of course we do.  Much of that stuff I don't agree with and think are waste of tax dollars too.     It's only a dumb argument if you aren't consistent in not wanting government spending money on stupid crap.   IMO it's a dumber argument to shrug and say "well, we spend billions on other stupid sh1t, why not this too?".

Its patently absurd to think we are going to eliminate all government spending and to then say, well we waste a lot of $$ on other things..let's get rid of ALL those expenditures before we spend a small amount of money on a wall.   Idiotic

In any case it’s going to be built so the arguments against it are pretty much moot now. We’ll see what the results are if any. I don’t think it’s going to solve any of our border problems (and if it does it will only be a temporary fix) but we will find out.
