In truth there are plenty of good Muslims around the world.  Sadly, they lack the spine to stand up to the cowards who pervert it for political ends. The religion never went through the Reformation and as a result it is stuck in Warlord phase.....

When you travel the middle east you encounter so many good people, all the time, who like us just want to live and love and have peace.

But there are those who are able to poison the minds of people through it as well.  This happened with other religions in the past and those ideologies were able to unfock themselves...

The problem we have now is that not only do these Islamists hold the Liberal view of being the only moral people, they happily use violence to project their views....and we have our own leaders who suggest that challenging them about it is "Islamaphobia....."

You'll never get pro Palestinians to discuss this.  When Israel was formed, the surrounding Arab countries kicked out their Jews and stole their land.  Israel got their one small chunk but God forbid we ask the Palestinians to move to any one of a dozen neighboring Islamic countries.

Is this a REAL question?  On the same day Hamas carried out another terrorist attack that killed multiple Israelis?   On the same day a Hamas leader said the following:

"The leaders of the Occupation should know, October 7th was just a rehearsal"

Of course that probably does unfortunately play some part, but it’s not nearly that simple, and you know it. Theres also the issue of international condemnation and the US’s need to maintain moral clarity on human rights and so forth, which is difficult to do when a government that is essentially its proxy is leveling a densely populated city of two million and killing civilians at an extreme rate in the process.

Well, I guess we just have to put to the side our own killing of civilians in our quest to get terrorists.  Bush/ Obama/ Trump/ Biden have all done it, and we are still doing it. I don’t think Israel is under any obligation to play extra nice, which is what Blinken is telling them to do.  They have been nice enough if you ask me. And they will continue to be, but shitt happens when your enemy uses suicide bombers and hides behind children.   And says they are going to keep doing it.

Israel Knew Hamas’s Attack Plan More Than a Year Ago
 

Israeli officials obtained Hamas’s battle plan for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack more than a year before it happened, documents, emails and interviews show. But Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan as aspirational, considering it too difficult for Hamas to carry out.

The approximately 40-page document, which the Israeli authorities code-named “Jericho Wall,” outlined, point by point, exactly the kind of devastating invasion that led to the deaths of about 1,200 people.

The translated document, which was reviewed by The New York Times, did not set a date for the attack, but described a methodical assault designed to overwhelm the fortifications around the Gaza Strip, take over Israeli cities and storm key military bases, including a division headquarters.

Hamas followed the blueprint with shocking precision. The document called for a barrage of rockets at the outset of the attack, drones to knock out the security cameras and automated machine guns along the border, and gunmen to pour into Israel en masse in paragliders, on motorcycles and on foot — all of which happened on Oct. 7.

The plan also included details about the location and size of Israeli military forces, communication hubs and other sensitive information, raising questions about how Hamas gathered its intelligence and whether there were leaks inside the Israeli security establishment.

The document circulated widely among Israeli military and intelligence leaders, but experts determined that an attack of that scale and ambition was beyond Hamas’s capabilities, according to documents and officials. It is unclear whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or other top political leaders saw the document, as well.

It’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? Other countries were willing to mostly say and do nothing while Israel bombarded Gaza for six weeks after the attacks. But they’ve killed approximately 13,000 civilians and at this point people aren’t going to sit idly by if Israel picks this back up at the same pace. I think that’s just a fact as far as the international community goes

It was in the context of protracting the conflict out for months.  Blinken said something about being more precise with strikes and the Israeli contingent said they are observing the rules of war and the Israeli people have the fortitude to carry on for months if need be which I took to mean, even if they have to go slow, they will.

I don't see how that means they don't have credit to bomb people for months.
