I’m not trying to troll. I’ve written before that I approve very much of most woke ideas, which are about treating everyone with dignity and respect. I like living in a woke society and I’d like our schools to have more of this, not less. And yes I’m dead serious.
Are there exceptions when woke can go too far? Sure, and you guys love pointing them out. When you do I will probably agree with you in that particular instance. But overall what are we talking about when it comes to woke? Respect for gays and trans. The Me Too movement. Acknowledging the dangers of man-made climate change. Teaching the truth about the history of American race relations, and recognizing that some institutional racism still exists today. These are all good positive things. I’m for them, and I want woke to win out.

I think one of those instances you would agree includes what the student endure in their congressional testimony in RLLD's video. Would you agree that what these students are describing/enduring is significantly worse than what gay/trans people in any capacity endure. If not have you got something similar.

it would seem to me that the bullying is significantly worse for conservative and Jewish students on college campuses than what happens to trans people in any capacity, anywhere, but that may be a limb too far. Have you got any videos or sources of intimidation of trans people that would rival RLLD's?

What the hell do people coming home from work in Philly care about any of this. Get a job and get out of the road.

This should absolutely not be allowed, it is a safety risk if nothing else -- emergencies and emergency vehicles on the roads are stuck for instance.

They should drive through this slowly with cattle movers in a V formation.

Harvard is on an interesting trajectory.  They have the name recognition for arguably the best school on the planet, yet they've scored dead last on the FIRE free speech analysis.

It's like the Harvard students are allowed to conflate intelligence with wisdom, and society let's them think they are correct, so there is no negative feedback loop to tell them that they don't have the experience to have their opinions matter much.

I'm guessing that a lot of the alumni are unhappy with these developments.  But also, a lot of their spouses probably support this stuff, at least the ones who just married into Ivy.

Like I said, I'm interested to see how it plays out.

Sorry I misssd this post earlier. I’ve read plenty of stories about trans kids being bullied. I don’t have videos to present to you mainly because I’m not a big fan of collecting videos, or watching them. I think these videos, on both sides, go a long way towards destroying reasonable political discussion. They’re often edited and really ugly. I would a thousand times prefer a good written argument. This is where Tik Tok and other social media has led us. I hate it.

To your main point: I am opposed to all bullying, anywhere. That includes conservative students. Woke is not perfect and one of its uglier aspects is a general intolerance of conservatism, which many woke people mistakenly confuse with bigotry, racism, fascism, etc. I am very much opposed to this aspect of woke attitudes.

I think we need more time to really have any significant indication of people turning away.  We do not know who those people really are.  It could even be terrorist sympathizers who are disullusioned at these people deciding to take an actual moral stance, or it could be sane people looking at what is evident with the school and wanting to stay well away.  Who knows. And it could be true that the next measure is far better.

I doubt this gets too much attention or has any actual impact to persuade these people to stop being vile anti-semites

Alternate headline: Fox News says lack of support for the Israeli government is antisemitism.

I did get a chuckle out of right wing Barbie fluffing that smug doosh though.

Sure, I could see that being a headline. But so long as they cannot answer a simple question about genocide, well, we are going to....for now...take them at face value.....

But Tim, wokeness is just about “dignity and respect”.  How can they be so intolerant?

It took something dramatic, the subhuman Palestidiots murdering Jews to finally get people to see what the universities really are.

I do hope this becomes a trend, the places have been perverting our children for far too ling

Ahh yes, Democrats. The Party of Racial Justice and Freedom. The party of segregation, slavery and lynching. Ahhh, such good times.

I once referenced Frankenstein's monster in a law review submission which was simultaneously submitted as a final paper in a class.  I footnoted Frankenstein's monster to Mary Shelly.  You can't be too careful.

yeah, but her ancestors MAY have been slaves or known someone who was a slave so that makes it right. Consider it "reparations" for all the suffering she's gone thru as the President of Harvard.

Happened upon this story a few days ago - actress dropped from the Scream franchise for pro Palestinian comments. Link

Interesting how the production company says her criticism of the Israeli government and calls for a cease fire are “antisemitism.”

Classic cancel culture but the MSM and both major parties are fully on board, along with most Geeks parroting that line.

There is merit to this.  The left is now staring down the barrel of the weapon it created. It likely is uncomfortable.

Simply supporting Palestinians cannot reasonably be declared "antisemitism",  its a game and that game is simply coming home to roost.

There are plenty of instances of antisemitism, and too many really.  But as it is the standard set for other groups, we will see it misused.  :dunno:

Are they?  I guess they might be.  It might be a weakness to allow oneself to "give it back", but I am not sure there is any value in becoming that which we detest. :dunno:

Oh well, in part I am disinclined to call them out, if only because I sorta understand the desire to put it back on those who dole it out.....but then you really remove your own ability to object; if it is ones interest to remain philosophically honest at least.

Typically liberals start this stuff, and never seem to understand the longer term consequences. Its something we have seen repetitively.   As it arises my hope is to at least point this out.  Maybe if people recognize how their actions can come back to them, they will be a little more mediated. 😔

I think adults should take personal responsibility versus blaming other people for their own actions but what do I know? I’m a political independent.

Sure.  But adults should also behave responsibly, notably when they are elected officials.....an easy example might be Harry Reid eliminated the SCOTUS filibuster.....he did it to serve an immediate desire, with no regard for the longer term consequences....notably for abortion..... and it came back to the Democrats.  This is easy stuff, but they are not great about it.
