Restaurant chain shuts down nearly 50 locations in California following minimum wage hike

Recommended Posts

This is what Californians voted for.  :dunno:

They deserve everything thing they get.  It's unfortunate that those stuck in that State that vote conservative also get kicked in the teeth, but that state is moving closer and closer to Marxism and is a text book example of "Don't Do This".  At some point in the near future, they WILL be lining their enemies against the wall unless there is some kind of conservative revolution.

Your best bet if you're a conservative is to move out of that State as soon as you can.

Rubios can blame the minimum wage but the truth is they’re a mediocre product who over expanded in an area where there are Mexican restaurants and taco stands on every corner. There are restaurants thriving here everywhere.

Also, and this I say with direct, inside knowledge: Rubio’s site selector and director of leasing did very poor jobs choosing locations and signing leases.

If they did such a poor job why didn't they close sooner?   Why wait until now?  Sounds to me like you're just pulling excuses out of your a$$ to cover for the minimum wage increase.

And how hilariously convenient and absurd that the guy who hires illegal immigrants to do his work - who doesn't have to worry about the increase - is accusing other companies of bad mismanagement instead of where it really belongs - the wage increase.  So now instead of employees working at 50 locations under "bad management", we now have all those employees OUT of work and the taxpayers have to foot the bill for them.

F@ck you.

Liberals will think it’s funny because that’s where working class families eat.

1. Good question. This is probably the last straw in a long series of straws. But it’s not the only straw and IMO not the main reason. I believe Rubios would have closed soon anyhow. Writing was on the wall.

2. I do worry about the increase because it’s not smart- it hurts businesses. It’s going to cause a lot of problems. But it’s also not going to destroy most businesses. This is not an “either or” situation. We have a lot of regulations in California. Some of them, like this one, are rather stupid. But we will continue to thrive anyhow mainly because of the location and the weather.

3. Not very nice of you. I’m really a pretty friendly guy. If you’re ever in Orange County I’ll treat you to a beer.

Despite our many differences, there are very few posters here that I wouldn't have a beer or joint with. ESAC is probably one of them. Full dooshnozzle, all the time. No thanks. Right up there with Brahmabulls and our resident wannabe terrorist. Otherwise, it's mostly cool people that have opposing opinions, most of which don't really matter that much.

You're just upset that I call BS on your revisionist history and false narratives.  It's not that I'm wrong, you just don't like my tone.

That being said, I'd have a beer with anyone, even pimpadoosh and beachguy.

Rubios is ok… used to be good. We had one in our town, but it closed a few years ago.

It was hard for them to compete with all of the other taquerias around.

You really are just an empty vessel that grifters put thoughts into, aren’t you? Are you sentient? Who explains these posts to you?

If you’re not following: I think you’re not intelligent. Fearful and highly susceptible to being led on and exploited. Dumb.

Yeah and I'm still a hundred times smarter than you even on my worst day.

You think coming into a forum and just carpet bombing it with nonsense makes you smart?  Nah, it just makes you a sheep because I can get your talking points on the latest communist propaganda website you get them from. I don't need to hear them from you.

You guys are a dime a dozen. Is there some kind of factory that just churns morons like you out?

48 to be closed, nearly half again as many remain open.

Ah you got me. It had been awhile since I was wrong so I’ll take this one.

I see you are ignoring the part about them declaring bankruptcy 3.5 years ago though

Well, to be honest, Tim, I wasn't actually talking about you. It was torridJoe which is why I copied verbatim what he posted to throw his snarky comment right back at him.

I actually like you as a poster for the most part, believe it or not.  👍

Nobody who is THAT worried about their sexuality is very smart. I don’t even want to see your worst day because these last two or three have been eye opening on where the floor for despicability really is.

I agree, You've been pretty despicable and very confused about your sexuality. 👍

The first step for your recovery is being able to recognize your issues and I applaud you for doing so.

Perhaps. Regulations are designed to incentivize behavior. It's often not the behaviors the regulators want though. Unintended consequences.

And "fair" is not the word I use to describe $20 for a starter job intended for HS kids with no training or education.

Well yeah, if you don’t want to pay a fair wage, don’t own a business. Has nothing to do with incentivization; you don’t have a choice.

Well of course not, esp in Cali it’s closer to $25 or more. What is a “starter” job and why are they beneath your dignity?
