What do people think about the comeback, and his gig in general?

I would expect some measure of respect from those beyond the left, given his tireless advocacy for the health of first responders at 9/11, and his fairly well earned “bothsiderism” as he ended his Daily Show term the first time.

With his HBO show and now his weekly TDS returns, he’s taken the gloves off IMO. He’s always bashed the Dems for their commonly cited weaknesses, like well, weakness. But now I feel like he’s going after the bankruptcy of their policy intentions too.

Why are you touting his advocacy for cops and fireman on 9/11?

Where did you see that I did? But whatever issues I may have with policing, the fact remains that committed cops and firefighters put their lives on the line for the job that day and have been given the shaft as employees by the government. I don’t think there’s any cognitive dissonance in saying our policing is a net harm to America, AND that people employed by the government who suffer on the job injury or sickness, should be compensated fairly.

So you think police are routinely putting innocent people in prison ?

Acts 28:31.  Preaching the Kingdom of God and Teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all Confidence, no one forbidding him.  Indeed.  Amen.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, he has become the old man railing against the wind.  What was once comedic is now strident.

Still 100 times better than Colbert.

And yeah, he gets great kudos for his impassioned axx kicking of Congress regarding responder care.  Possibly one of the best orations I've ever seen.

He's a corny, not funny Pedocrat.

If we're being honest.

I've always generally liked Stewart.  Yeah he's left, but I don't view him as extreme left.  He is smart and pretty funny though.

Compared to anyone on TV now.....he's better.

God Trevor Noah was awful.

Megyn Kelly is really rockin it these days. I have no idea what the hell she says. But she has really ramped up the sex appeal. 😍

The other day my wife was watching a video on her phone.

Wife:  OMG, Megyn Kelly looks turrble these days?

Me: Really?

Wife:  Yeah, look [shows vid].  Isn't she really skinny?  And those hair extensions?

Me:  I mean, oh yeah!

Sure, she looks like she's had a little work done, but she's still good looking.  :dunno:

He’s at ease with conservatives, watched him hack up Ken Buck the other day but in a mostly polite and deferential manner when it came to his prosecutorial expertise. To be fair to Buck there he was also engaging and straight up admitted (as a generality but for my money by implication his own role as a participant in indicting people) the racist inequality of the criminal justice system in practice. And he was stuck defending the case that Trump is being targeted, which is a loser case but no one told him to go on TV and try, so.

She whined and squealed like a stuck pig about either Trump or Biden lol can’t honestly remember which, and she was damning peoples souls to hell. It was wild. Her career sank faster than a gossamer pelican with a lead weight on it.

Centrists don’t have positions. Trying to place a measuring tape between “extremes” is an exercise in maths, not ideology. It’s another way of saying you have no position at all, you just move the clothespin one way or the other depending on what other people think. So of course even a witless turd like Kelly can whip him like a Catholic child. Slavery or freedom? Mmmm give me segregation, that’s sensible.

I’m not foolish enough to suggest policing does no good. I offered 9/11 as one such instance where the notable cowardice of police (perhaps led by the generally more courageous firefighters in some cases) was absent and many gave their lives to save others. When the choice to act at the height of your service is that stark and obvious, most people come through. It’s when the pressure’s off that troubles arise. (Unless you’re a Uvalde cop).

So it’s not comical, it’s intentional. To say “policing is bad” is unhelpful and inaccurate IMO. I’m open to arguments on alternatives to traditional policing but that’s not needed here nor the point. It’s to say the harm cops cause outweighs the good. A billionaire who exploits his employees and rapes the planet and defrauds the taxpayers (cough) does not erase their harm by donating a library building. Thus, net harm.

Do you have data to support this conclusion?  Because it seems to fly in the reality that virtually every jurisdiction has police.

not even sure why you bother.  This guy is off his rocker crazy and radical.  I mean, he says Newsweek and NYT is center-right.

He lies and makes sh#t up on the fly - his one gift.

Yeah... I'm trying to be polite, but it's tough on this one.  Like I said, the ubiquitous existence of police forces in jurisdictions of all shapes, sizes, political leanings, education, wealth, culture, would be my support of police being a net positive.

But I'm mildly intrigued if he has anything tangible to defend his position.

Well that’s prima facie kinda stupid isn’t it? Was he a 9/11 first responder himself? Or a family member of one?
