cmh6476 1,125 Posted Tuesday at 07:54 PM Hooters is back! Quote The Florida businessmen who created Hooters more than four decades ago have taken back full control of the chain, vowing to restore its 1980s beach-bar vibe and replace the current, revealing waitress outfits with the iconic eatery’s original — and more modest — server uniforms. The founders’ group, operating as Hooters Inc., said Monday it finalized the purchase of Hooters of America on Friday, ending months of bankruptcy turmoil that left dozens of restaurants shuttered. Neil Kiefer, the 73-year-old lawyer now running the brand, said his goal is simple: “I don’t think you’re going to see a bunch of butt cheeks hanging out.” He told the Wall Street Journal earlier this year that the chain will scrap the bikini-style shorts adopted under prior ownership in favor of the orange jogging shorts that made the restaurant famous. So they could salvage the business by modifying some things. Putting more clothes on is not the correct approach.

I don't think it's going to fix it either. But it's a thing of the past IMO. Our Twin Peaks looks modern, better building, more money in the infrastructure. Most Hooters locations I know of are in need of major renovations. Most of these type establishments are under NNN leases where the tenant is responsible for all upkeep and any renovations. That's just one issue, but back to the food. If the premise is their food is subpar, if you fix that, if you refresh the brand in some way, at what point does it cease to hold it's brand value that remains? My only point was that the business model of scantily clad women serving beer is still viable. It just has to be executed properly. Even with the better food, and better sports bar atmosphere and configuration, I don't think Twin Peaks would be a successful business model without the scantily clad women so that's an integral part of their success. Hooters is just an outdated version of that business model and, as you alluded to, it would cost a lot to modernize. And that would be risky because it still might not work.
