Bands that went from Ballsy to Schmaltzy

Recommended Posts

Spinning off from the Chicago thread, we were discussing bands that started out rocking and turned into wedding balladeers.  So far we had:

Chicago, rocking with Terry Kath, turned into a Peter Cetera snooze fest.

@Engorgeous Georgementioned Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship to Starship.

I added Styx Mr. Roboto, ugh.

@patweisers44mentioned Fleetwood Mac getting soft.

What you got?  :cheers:

Not a fan at all, but didn't Sugar Ray start as kind of a punkish band before they started pumping out MTV friendly pop crap?

 Damn I was just thinking about this… Heart went from Baracuda, Majic Man, to These Dreams.

Don't forget "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You".  A song about a lady picking up a hitchhiker to knock her up - and maybe get AIDS - because she loves her husband but he can't get her pregnant.  :rolleyes:

Foreigner

Not that they were ever really "ballsy", but they went from Double Vision, Dirty White Boy and Long, Long Way From Home to Waiting For a Girl Like You and I Want to Know What Love Is

From half-way decent to straight-up crap in a few short years

Taylor Swift, legit Country to Sold Out Pop Slutt dressed in onesies, singing about high school shizz and complaining about Conservatives.

Billy Squire

To be fair it was his über ghey music video which was the death knell for his career rather than the actual music.

 I loved Billy Squires music. I loved the song that the video killed his career. Great song writer
