Yes it was Facebook, not Google.

I asked HT, not dipshet Peefoam, originally because he was the one that brought it up without any link. Typical.

When you google the story (it’s funny how I can find out everything on them) the info that comes up says yes they had for a period filtered the pic - along with the one that was altered that looks identical except the SS were all smiling in it. A point which I noticed you omitted when quoting this story. 

Incidentally I first saw the smiling picture version on Twitter before I saw the real one and a bunch of conspiracy crap about how he wasn’t really shot and this photo proved it.

So it seems to me FB was trying to “help” In this situation and it made an error which they fixed. That seems reasonable to me.

This was why I asked the person who originally brought this up.

It’s almost always true. And when there is a conspiracy (like Watergate for instance) it’s almost always discovered very quickly and it’s usually very stupid. 
But most people, particularly religious people but I would include many non- religious people as well, refuse to accept the awful truth: that most things that happen in life, both good and bad, happen through blind luck and chaos. This indisputable fact makes people uncomfortable.
