You are hearing this more and more. Liberals can wave it away all they want. There is a reason why liberal thought leaders are increasing their message that social media is dangerous and speech needs to be clamped down on. If Trump was saying this, you would be losing your shlt. I would too. Anyone who wants to clamp down on speech is trying to remove our ability to speak out.

They already did this with covid. They literally banned people from Twitter for speaking out against the vaccine, and those people were proven right. They banned the guy who invented the mRNA vaccine. How is his opinion less valid just because he had concerns about its use? Don't make the mistake of being pro censorship just because it's your party. Eventually you will find yourself on the wrong end of crackdown on speech.

Good reference. I agree it is dangerous to withdrawl protection for platforms on what their users publish. That should not happen. Why Trump pushed for it though was because the election had been tampered with, and the social media platforms who were favoring one side over the other were going to get away with that favoritism.

Freedom of speech is vital. So is election integrity. Was it the right way to go about making sure information related to election tampering was allowed to be equally presented from both sides? Probably not. At that point he was desperate to prove his case. It was the fastest way to get results as he saw it.

I already know you will call BS on election fraud. Everyone with a brain's favorite democrat until he endorsed Trump, Kennedy, agrees that the CIA helped to fake the results.

Section 230 ultimately was never revealed. Speech was censored on social media at the direction of the FBI and the government. That is a fact. Now you can point to section 230 saying it's their right. It is, but it doesn't change the fact that speech was censored that ultimately harmed Americans.

I’m not for censorship. But maybe social media could stop with the racism, the Nazism, the outright lies about Covid and all the other extreme white supremacy bullcrap? I’m against forcing them to stop but I wish they would. It’s not making the world a better place.

That was the first stuff kicked off social media about eight onion rings ago. Thet were incrementally banning everybody more and more mainstream conservative until Elon Musk came along. Meanwhile Communists and terrorists were always free to spout anything they wanted. Unless you outright advocated for violence, it was/is impossible to be so extreme left to ever get banned.

I would prefer the major sites to self censor ALL extremism, from left or right. I just don’t want the government involved- UNLESS- there are rare instances in which the public safety could be threatened.
