Does this include all the ones Bill Gates bought?

This could go in the concern thread maybe but, I guess a concern would be "I'm worried the news will have so much comedy gold to report on they won't know what to prioritize."

Already the leaks have started with some in Trump circles saying that Elon Musk is already starting to wear out his welcome for many as he is becoming almost a comical distraction sliding into transition meetings and giving feedback on all of Trump's personnel decisions. One commenter said "Elon is getting a little big for his britches."

Β

That should be easy to find out who said it despite them remaining anonymous. I'm not sure anyone under the age of 60 refers to pants as "britches."

Zero chance Trump won't get sick of Elon grabbing attention and headlines from him. The administration isn't big enough for both of their egos.

Also, LOL at these mooks that think you just need to build a factory in the US, and call it good. There are few if any industries that are not already in a bind from an employment perspective. There are too many jobs going unfilled right now. Who is going to staff these magnificent production hubs?

In before "all the fired government workers derpity derp!"

okay, who is saying this?Β  Someone privi to the meetings?Β  Β anonymous?

just curious if we/you are going down the pitfall area of "anonymous" sources again that journalists & others consider news?Β  From the sounds of it you sometimes rely on anonymous sources & call it news & report it here as news?Β  Orrrrrr you believe & reportΒ "anonymous sources" stories if they fit your agenda?

not badgering you just asking where you stand on these so called "sources".

Most likely a disinformation campaign by the left to sow doubt and distrust among the new administration.Β Β

Of course it's an anonymous source. i can't imagine someone would on the record say it.

I would say the ceiling percentage of it being true is probably like 50%. But I certainly wouldn't view it as a definite in any way

so "anonymous sources" on your side are 50% believable?

anonymous sources on any side are like 50% believable (depending who is saying them). There is some truth they are most likely born out of. It's what comes after that as to where the stuff goes off the rails

This isΒ another perfect example of why the news should be read and not watched.Β

If you read an article, typically it is stated as something like "sources close to _______ were given anonymity to speak about things that they do not have the authorization to address publicly." And then those statements are verified by at least one additional source, often also anonymous. These are the sources theΒ shouldΒ be listened to. Note I say listened to, not unilaterally believed. Sometimes the sources are wrong, sometimes they're planting BS for a specific reason. But in any reputable news org, the sources are vetted and stories aren't released unless corroborated.

Y'all are just building a comfortable narrative for yourselves by claiming anon sources can't be trusted. The biggest news stories are regularly unearthed due to sources that may be anonymous to the public, butΒ not the journalist.

I see it reported that only 15% of the federal budget is payroll. Β That actually makes me feel better about maybe they won’t fire as many people as I originally thought.

Disperse these people through the country. No more work from home. That will clear out a bunch. Β

I suppose if you believe it's really about efficiency and expense you may be right. I tend to think those are not really factors at all.

While I suspect ElonΒ will find no inefficiencies in the funding going to his companies, I do actually believe it’s truly about efficiency and expense. Β What do you think it’s about?

I’m a staunch proponent of eliminating government waste and inefficiency. Β I’ve felt that way since I was a teen, before I could even vote. Β

However…

I feel trepidation about having the government run like a sociopathic corporation. Β Corporations care ONLY about the bottom lineβ€” do anything at all for the sake of return to shareholders. Β Corporations by design ignore the human element and the real human consequences of their actions. Β That should give everyone reason for caution when transferring the corporate attitude to government.

I want to eliminate government stupidity, but it needs to be done thoughtfully.

Well, "sociopathic" is not the goal. And the bottom line should be it's shareholders and their customers. In this case, the shareholders and their customers are all US citizens and allies around the world.. So I hope they think it's for us in their approach. And not for them to line their pockets more than their own salaries. There are always bad guys in every walk of life, but they should be found and held accountable.Β

That general guy dumbass and his comments of, "well good luck" is evidence that liberal democrats are fine with the corrupt status quo. That is not what we should be.Β

The dept aside, what an ass move by Musk.

Quote

Β

Elon Musk publicized the names of government employees he wants to cut.

Last week, in the midst of the flurry of his daily missives, Musk reposted two X posts that revealed the names and titles of people holding four relatively obscure climate-related government positions. Each post has been viewed tens of millions of times, and the individuals named have been subjected to a barrage of negative attention. At least one of the four women named has deleted her social media accounts.

Although the information he posted on those government positions is available through public online databases, these posts target otherwise unknown government employees in roles that do not deal directly with the public.
