Did Lamar Jackson graduate kindergarten?

Recommended Posts

Although in @edjr’s defense, he was one of the many GC righties that defended Lamar when I started a thread about a homophobic comment he made.

So I guess the GC hates gays more than they hate blacks

The number of anti-LGBTQ threads we have seen in the last year would seem to confirm that.

Did a quick search on threads started by @edjr calling NFL players dumb or stupid and could only find one specific to QB’s, where he called Cam Newton the dumbest QB in the draft.   He’s started threads ripping on white QB’s but not about their intelligence that I could find.  Closest I could find about a white NFL player being stupid was a thread on Mike Vanderjagt “the idiot kicker” but that was basically his nickname

In terms of NFL players as a whole he’s apparently called multiple NFL players (both black) who died dumb.  The one below is about Marquise Hill (which he started the thread on), and in the thread about Sean Taylor’s death which he didn’t start he said: “Think this will change any of the other thug idiots in the NFL or NBA? of course not, they are invincible.

Thank you for all of your time and effort in researching his posts. You've truly made the world a better place through all of your hard work.

not that I really care how you spend your time but 2 minutes would be if you just did a thread title search on dumb and stupid.

You also had to look through the results and find instances that might be worth opening, open them, find out what Ed said to the point you were able to tell us and even quote him. Also you mentioned Ed's comment about Sean Taylor in a thread he didn't start, so you did more than just the search you claim above.

Agreed.  2 minutes is a silly underestimate.  That opus took a lot of time to put together.  Autistic TimHauck probably didn't notice tho.  :dunno:

Lol.  “Like” 2 minutes.  Actually the Sean Taylor thread I found because I had clicked on the Marquise Hill one but then clicked off of it and did a new search for him saying “invincible.”  So sorry, forgot to mention that search term.  May have also searched for threads with “idiot” in the title.  There were only a few results for each of the searches so still only took about 2 minutes to find the posts.  Maybe 3, you got me! Maybe another minute to add my comments.

Look, I’m just going to tell you guys that you can’t see it in yourselves but you’re doing what has historically been done to blacks, which is diminish a black person’s value and accomplishments by calling them stupid. I don’t care that Lamar doesn’t speak eloquently or doesn’t score high on a test.
He speaks like the immediate surroundings of his upbringing. If he is speaking what you deem is improper or not standard English, either he cannot or will not. If he cannot, blame the history of segregation and housing in America. As he matures and his circle of influence gets wider he’ll begin to sound more like YOU. Maybe then you’ll stop calling him dumb? But know, it’s just a superficial trait and you’ve simply been ‘othering’ him. Which in short means you’re racist. Which I believe most of you are and I don’t care what you write to prove otherwise. To post for pages and pages why Lamar Jackson is dumb is thee definition of racist, imo.

I’m not a Ravens fan and honestly, before this thread hadn’t really even heard him speak. 🤷🏽‍♀️

FYI

‘Othering’ is the process of creating a distinction between an in-group and an out-group by emphasizing differences, leading to the stigmatization of the out-group based on stereotypes and hierarchies, ultimately reinforcing the identity of the in-group.

This thread is hilarious. Are you trying to say there has never been one stupid black person in the history of this planet? But there have been countless white people who have been stupid? 😆

This chick is wild. How can anyone have an IQ this low? Oh wait, she's a liberal. :dunno:

You can't be serious? Facts are facts, he is dumb. The Wonderlic is a very elementary IQ test. My 12 year old would score better than he did.

What's your narrative, we're all racist for telling you the truth?

Okay, so I realize you ended this statement with how you don't care what anyone says to prove otherwise, which to me is just a means of saying "i'm going to declare racism, regardless of any facts presented because it makes me feel better".

Speaking for myself, I have not posted anything about Lamar Jacksons intellect. I would also venture to guess that most of the posts in this thread are not even about Lamar Jackson specifically. You're failing to realize that you had 1 poster enter this thread and immediately cry racism (followed by another usual suspect doing the same) and much of the following 4-5 pages of posts are a discussion on if Edjr was being racist / why pointing out something about a person doesn't automatically equal racism / etc etc etc.  rather than people piling on Lamar Jackson. I didn't even watch any of the posted clips, for example. My interest in this topic was to discuss why starting a thread about someone who happens to be black, makes the poster racist, which I find absolutely ridiculous.

There is no "sounding like you". I would venture to guess that we have some people at the geek club who sound like uneducated hicks. :dunno: and I know there are some pretty dumb ones. Weepaws can barely type coherent english sentences, for example. No one would ever call me racist for pointing that out.... But if I started a post calling you dumb, the resident race baiters would be right there calling me a racist.

Here are 2 rappers: Uncle Luke from 2 Live Crew and Trick Daddy and a classic rap song that came out the same year Lamar Jackson was born. All 3 were raised in the same metropolitan area (I think) in southern Florida and have a similar dialect and accent.

If anyone has read what I wrote and still can’t understand my point of view of why calling a black person with a southern accent dumb and didn’t graduate kindergarten despite that person having a college degree and a career that requires intellect: a career formally denied to blacks for the exact reason that blacks didn’t have the intelligence to be a QB and Lamar Jackson manages to lead his team to the playoffs year after year…

If you still can’t understand why it’s racist, you may need to step away from this topic and revisit it 10 to 20 years from now when your ego is ready to accept that it’s racism that makes you think it’s okay to call a black man dumb who clearly is not dumb. That only racism makes you think he sounds dumb.

He may or may not be dumb, but I don't think this is true.  I had family who lives in that area and spent a lot of time in that area and no one talks like that.  Unless you want to say it's a small neighborhood or something, but either way it's pretty bunk.  It's not like he isn't exposed to the outside world.

He went to nicer schools than most people here due to his football prowess.

Peenie, you're attributing comments about one specific person, Lamar Jackson, who is black, and taking that as a statement on all black people. That is a stereotype. It's not reality. This thread was started about one person, who happens to be black, not about the entire black community; not even about a small group of black people.

I think that peenie has a point; I've learned that I do indeed equate "speaking differently" with stupidity.  I would argue that I don't consider it "racism" though, as I think the same thing about pasty white chowds from Bahstahn.  I think I'm more of a "differentist" than "racist"  :dunno:

Great. Now this thread is racist against white folk too.

Hmm, that's very possible. I didn't even think along the those lines.

For the record, Lamar Jackson never received a college degree.  Just so I’m not considered racist, I’ll point out that Justin Fields did get his degree even though he left for the NFL early.  And plenty of white people, including Aaron Rodgers, didn’t get their college degree.

Agreed, but the whole, "he can't speak properly because he and his family grew up segregated and therefore developed a regional dialect" is absolute horseshìt since he was clearly integrated into other communities.

Dude went to the richest schools in the area and then went to Louisville.

Peenie talking about how if he gets exposure to the general public way of speaking, he'll pick up proper grammar.  Dude has been going to suburban schools and working with the Ravens for what?  15 years?

That whole line of reasoning is ridiculous.

Lamar Jackson was insulting and degrading this fan by calling him an “mf” who wasn’t man enough to play football and saying all he does is “eat .” That says Jackson thinks eating is unmanly and deliberately used it as an insult, something gay men have faced, like, forever. Therefore, it’s homophobic. (I like this phrasing from a gay person: “To get down on your knees and put another guy’s in your mouth, is, to a lot of straight men, the most degrading and disgusting thing they could think of.”)

Jackson could have thrown out a whole bunch of other non-homophobic insults, but he resorted to a gay slur as what he saw as the f-you capper to his tweet. And deleting it shows Jacskon knows he crossed a line.

For those of you who watched Breaking Bad, would you make fun of the way he speaks or say he sounds like he didn’t graduate kindergarten or that listening to him makes you feel dumber?

I doubt you would. Why? Because you know he has a physical ailment that affects his speech. You have been taught not to make fun of handicapped people. I’d argue that prior to the 80’s and political correctness, bullies made fun of kids with disabilities.

Do you know there are schools that talented high school athletes go to that helps them become better players AND teaches them how to speak?  These schools are preparing these kids so they can get endorsements and how to handle themselves during interviews, etc. So there are kids that you are unaware have been trained and practiced how to speak. A lot of talented athletes come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have not had the money like some kids to help them sound polished.

For some reason it’s not okay to make fun of the way that Breaking Bad actor speaks. You wouldn’t start a thread about him being dumb. Yet, despite you know LJ has a southern accent that he didn’t manufacture. I’m sure he sounds like his family members. For some reason you feel it’s perfectly okay and a free for all to make fun of LJ but you’d hold your tongue about that Breaking Bad actor. Yet both are simply a product of the life they were born into. Society has said don’t make fun of the disabled but it’s still okay to make fun of the urban accent and claim it’s a sign of stupidity instead of the unique history of blacks and isolation. I don’t care that he went to the best schools, he went as a tool for the school not to get a great education.
I don’t know a damn thing about LJ or his character. I’m just discussing him to address you all making fun of the way he speaks.
