Trump pardons “Chrisley Knows Best" reality show parents...

Recommended Posts

There is much rejoicing from seafoam, MO, jybcho, and others, but they will deny it...

(CNN) -- President Donald Trump has signed full pardons for imprisoned reality show couple Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were sentenced to lengthy prison terms in 2022 for a conspiracy to defraud banks out of more than $30 million, according to a White House official.

In addition to the bank fraud convictions, they were also found guilty of several tax crimes, including attempting to defraud the Internal Revenue Service.

In a post on X, Trump’s adviser Margo Martin posted a video of Trump phoning Savannah Chrisley, the couple’s daughter, informing her of the plans for pardons.

“It’s a terrible thing. But it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean, and hopefully we can do it by tomorrow,” Trump said.

“I don’t know them, but give them our regards,” he continued. Alice Johnson, who Trump pardoned during his first term and is now acting as his “pardon czar,” joined the president in the Oval Office for the phone call.

Savannah Chrisley spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in July. Chrisley also helped campaign for Trump as part of “Team Trump’s Women Tour.” She recently appeared on Lara Trump’s Fox News program to discuss her parents’ plight.

Todd Chrisley is serving 12 years at a Federal Prison Camp in Florida, and Julie Chrisley is serving her seven-year sentence at a Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Chrisleys, known for their reality program “Chrisley Knows Best,” were found guilty in June 2022. Both of them have maintained their innocence and were appealing their criminal convictions.

On the surface this does seem a little strange. If all you have to do is help campaign for your family to be pardoned, I don’t like it one bit.

I agree. But at least he’s not waiting till he’s leaving office to do this, like a bich

Attempting to keep money from the IRS isn’t a crime imo.

And paying taxes is voluntary :)

But seriously, it's like your house. If you own it & the land it sets on once your mortgage is paid off, why do you have to keep paying rent (property taxes) to the County ?

Got to pay for roads, infrastructure, fire departments, cops,  schools, libraries, etc.

You also need to donate a million bucks.

Trump has perfected pay to play.  The corruption is shocking

Not paying taxes is one thing.  Taking tax money from your employees and then spending the money yourself is another.

Bro pleaded guilty and was set to pay fines but Trump stepped in and pardoned.  Terrible.

Trump pardoned him, cause he thought that was innovative.

It was definitely a political hit job. It’s not the first time the left used the IRS. Yet somehow Hunter Biden escaped them for decades.

You don't need to get into exact numbers, but ballpark - how much did you get paid weekly to look the other way as a cop?

Their sentence did seem pretty harsh for the crime.

Seems like that article buried the lede though.  Yikes:

in April, he pardoned Nevada Republican Michele Fiore, who was awaiting sentencing on federal charges that she used money meant for a statue honoring a slain police officer for personal costs, including plastic surgery.

I usually don’t respond much to you, but make an exception now and again. Where I worked , which at the time had one of the highest crime rates and the highest poverty rates in the country to go with  the lowest employment rate, Democrat controlled of course, you couldn’t compete a shift without letting a lot go, contrary to liberal myth.

And it's much appreciated.  🤣

I am unfamiliar with these pardonees.  With Russia and Ukraine at War, India and Pakistan still staring angrily across their border, Iran clearly trying to get their nuke, North Korea looking to flex a bit of muscle to put their sunken destroyer in their rear view mirror, China constantly flexing regionally and globally, Tte Gaza situation, Maduro still looking to cause problems, cartels in Mexico and unfinished tariff business all aorund the world, I would think the President's attention is needed elsewhere.

You and everyone else. That is a sensible stance.

But if you look at it through the "Trump is only in it for himself and stands to benefit personally from giving pardons to fraudsters and thieves" lens, it makes perfect sense. As do almost all of his "WTF is he doing?" activities. Once you understand that is the intent behind it, it is clear as day what he's doing.
