MDC 7,407 Posted June 4 If so, what? I used to mostly buy, but a sandwich chips and drink runs around $15 now so f that. I don’t like making a sandwich at home because it gets soggy. I’ll do leftovers or make something that keeps, like chicken salad. Looking for new ideas. Thanks amen.
supermike80 1,907 Posted June 4 Everyday. A small breakfast as well. Like a yogurt, some fruit. Mix it up where I can. Try to keep it different. BLT's are good. I do that a few times. Sometimes hotdogs, or I will grill up some brats and take those. Today it was cucumbers and tomatoes cut up with some awesome raspberry poppyseed dressing. I have a leftover container of beef stew my wife made, but not sure I want it. Chicken salad on pita is definitely a go to as well.
TheNewGirl 1,489 Posted June 4 No, but I work from home. If I return to office, then I will likely bring my lunch majority of the days. Usually something like a salad, I don't really bring sandwiches either. Microwaveable meals are always good; like the frozen ones but you have to find ones that are generally healthy and don't have a lot of sodium.

Fnord 2,264 Posted June 4 I make a big salad to take to work. Lettuce, carrots, cukes, tomatoes, shrooms, a couple different kinds of olives, avocado if I have any, and use tzatziki instead of a traditional salad dressing. If I have leftover bacon, grilled chicken, bratwurst, steak, etc. I cut it up and put some in. Full daily serving of veggies in one meal.
Ron_Artest 1,506 Posted June 4 What is this office you speak? When I used to work for big corps they had big subsidized dining halls and it was under $5 for anything you wanted. Most recent job, small company, sometimes go out but usually brought either leftovers the night before or a turkey or ham sammich. They also stocked the kitchen with snacks. I last worked in an office about 10 years ago, and I generally brought both. I was doing low carb so breakfast was usually two pieces of bacon and a hard boiled egg. Lunch was generally leftovers from dinner the night before. If we didn't have leftovers, I'd eat the cafe food which was actually quite good with lots of options -- they usually had a Messican station, pizza and maybe calzone station, roast meat and veggie station, as well as sammiches, salads, and a grill stations.

Gepetto 1,367 Posted June 4 I take a sandwich (ham, turkey, or salami, or peanut butter) and chips. I wrap the sandwich in wax paper and put it in a zip lock bag.. I grab an ice pack out of the fridge to keep it cold. I don't notice any sogginess. I use Rotella Italian bread.
purdygood 352 Posted June 4 I usually order extra when we go to dinner. Then bring the leftovers to work the next day.
Engorgeous George 2,331 Posted June 4 I went with frozen and easy office prep supplies, that way if I was asked out, a not uncommon occurance, my meal would keep until tomorrow or beyond. Our building also had a pretty good cafe so when the mood struck that was always an option.

I used to put feta in it, then went on a kick where I was avoiding cheese, which was dumb. The feta just never made it back in. Blue cheese could be good... I'm going to buy some this weekend. Gepetto 1,367 Posted June 4 So to be clear, it's just turkey, salami, or ham sandwich with mayo sometimes mayo combined with spicy mustard, sometime a slice of cheese. No lettuce and no tomato - probably helps avoid sogginess.

listen2me 23 1,873 Posted June 4 I get up early. I generally dont like packing some lunch unless its a realistic leftover I can throw in a container to warm up. Not by any sort of plan or fasting but I dont eat all morning on weekdays. At best may bring a muffin to have with coffee if I have some in the house. Then I usually order for a noon lunch if I didnt bring anything which is 3 or 4 days out of 5. I like breakfast and may cook it on a weekend. But I just dont get hungry all morning. I drink my coffee black from a drip maker. Im not picky. I dont get hangry or whatever people say. The no eating all AM does well for me.

It was a big campus for a major aerospace company. It also had a great gym with large areas for free weights, machines, cardio, and yoga classes. The company was very good to its employees. Even though they had downsized some, they kept these things running. Actually, now that I think about it, the corporate HQ was a few miles down the road, and I heard the president used the gym in the morning (I went in afternoons), so that's probably why they kept it open. Couple of cans of diced tomatoes maybe 1 of them blended up, along with couple cans mixed veg and one onion sliced and diced for soup. Just sure the onion, add the tomatoes and veg and slowly bring up to heat for a little while. Pack u up a bowl along with a pack of crackers
