That’s not a real country. GDP isn’t the most important god damn thing in the world.

You aren’t posting anything that we don’t already. Yes if you deport a bunch of people working illegally it’s going to hurt the economy, no focking sh!t. Doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen.

Yeah...This argument isn't gonna work for me.  The economy will be fine.   Any small drop due to the lack of illegal labor will be recovered.

For liberals their perfect country is we sneak in millions upon millions of illegals, pay those people five dollars an hour to do the jobs we wont do (proven false), but triple the minimum wage for OUR workers….crushing american small businesses.

And this is only the beginning. They’re not stopping crime, they’re hurting the economy. Shut them down. Now.

That's what happens when you let a problem grow out of control.  You're not gonna find this argument compelling to many people who weren't already illegal alien apologists

If this were the case every chamber of commerce (made up of small businesses) would be in favor of these raids. But in fact it’s the opposite. They’re all opposed because small businesses depend on this labor. You’re crushing them by scaring these people off.

I’m not doing anything. Businesses that made the choice to exploit cheap labor against our country’s laws are paying a price. That’s on them.

It was never out of control. And I have never apologized for anyone. It’s the reverse: you and others are apologizing for the deportations.

As far as compelling goes, what can I say? My observation has been that there is nothing more compelling to the average voter than how things affect his pocketbook. But maybe you’re right that this will be the one and only exception to that rule. I doubt it. We’ll see.

Businesses didn’t make that choice on their own. Consumers as well. As I wrote, the entire economy. It’s called capitalism. And if these folks want to be here for the pay they’re receiving I don’t think you can call it exploitation.

All opposed?

All of them?

Every last one?

You could make that argument, but at the end of the day you have to come to grips with the fact that only one entity in that equation is breaking the law…

So you can’t really later complain that you’re not making enough money

I haven’t encountered a chamber of commerce, anywhere, in favor of deportations. I HAVE  encountered many opposed. If you have contradictory evidence please present it.

I find it interesting that none of you are denying that this is hurting the economy. You seem to be saying “OK, so be it.” I am frankly counting on this being a minority opinion.

How so? CPI went down… I don’t see any disruptions in food supply. I don’t see businesses saying oh my gosh we can’t even do business because we don’t have workers now.

Either way your argument ends up being supporting and exploiting illegal labor. Tell me how that helps American workers?

In the history of this nation we have never fully enforced our immigration laws. We don’t today. They’re unworkable. Trump’s attempt to enforce them, haphazardly in target raids aimed at largely Hispanic communities, is itself unlawful.

Well first I linked to you an article about how the raids hurt our economy. I can link several more. Or just Google it. They’re all over the place.

Second: undocumented labor in jobs that the vast majority of Americans don’t want keep prices low and therefore give American workers more spending power. That is greatly to their benefit.

Same here.

I know of know one that's complaining about this. I recently went to a local chamber meeting for my city and they didn't appear any different, not one small business owner complaining about any of what Tim is saying.

Yet, it's ALL of them.

I’ll never prove it to you until the next election. And then we’ll see. I admit not much can be done until then. Unless….

Im actually hoping somebody can get to Trump and tell him how stupid this is. I’ve always gotten the sense that he doesn’t take this nearly as seriously as Stephen Miller and the MAGA fanatics out there. Trump has, after all, used plenty of undocumented labor on his properties. Maybe he’ll come around when he sees the effects.

Ugh Tim.   You are flat out lying...again.   You were sure, certain, no doubt in your mind Kamala was gonna win.   Even with the economy under her administration....Please stop lying.  it really gets old with you.

So according to your illogical logic, it’s ok to allow the border crossers to drain our government resources and steal jobs, and make those who are becoming legal citizens irrelevant. Bre-fawking-good

And they also keep saying "That's what I voted for!" (which, for future reference, you can file under Famous Last Words).

As I’ve pointed out countless times, the actual facts contradict you. They don’t cost government more than they put in, they don’t steal jobs, and they have no effect on people who come here with documents. Everything you wrote is 100% wrong.

The U.S. Chamber has taken the lead on this issue.

I see somebody else noticed that 160 years ago, Democrats were making the exact same arguments about cotton and tobacco workers.

In states other than California, Americans who do these jobs were getting squeezed by the underpaid illegal immigrants, so they voted the illegals out.  Meanwhile, in California, those Americans have long been put out of business already since they have to pay the minimum wage and contractors who hire illegals don't.
