Baylor is really digging themselves in a hole if they don't win this.

That Darryn Peterson kid is pretty good

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.  Need to take it easy tonight (!) to save some metabolism for the beer going in during the 49ers game on the morrow.

Also might give the home made eggnog a shot this weekend ... Have almost always added rum at the wife's request but I have some potent cherry brandy that propels aircraft that I might cut with the nog ...

Tasted a range of whiskies … some good, one quite unpleasant.

You try the bourbon from Castle & Key?

Recently overtook vodka tonic as my go-to drink.

Hell yeah!  Blizzard warning!  60 mph winds with snow.  Lows down to -20.  White out conditions.  Windchills to -60.  Plenty of firewood. Cozy and warm drinking the night away.

Not yet … should I?

I was only curious.  I am not a bourbon drinker except for a sip here and there and some old fashions.  We bought a bottle after a distillery tour in Kentucky.  Was just wondering if anyone else here had tried it (or even heard of it).

Nothing like a wood fire to warm up the house. My dad and I cut a lot of red elm back in the 80's

That stuff is like iron and burns like coal!

Nothing tastes better after shoveling the driveway than a shot of bourbon and a founders barrel aged kbs.

What's a kbs?

I'm sipping the Jefferson Reserve cask strength again.  I spent today watching football and doing my annual orange prep (well, tangelos) for the year's old fashioneds.  My next door neighbor has a ton of tangelo trees on our border, and is more than happy if I take as many as I want.  I slice them thin, pat them dry, coat them with sugar, smoke them on the pellet grill for a while, then finish them in the oven while I put in the next batch.  They make a good garnish and I'm looking forward to seeing if the sugar coating (new this year) adds to the flavor.  I may add them occasionally to sipping whiskeys as well.

I also tried drying some orange peels to make homemade orange bitters, but they dried quicker than I expected and got quite shriveled.  I'm not sure that matters, as long as the oils are still in there.  I'll decide tomorrow if I want to start those over.

Kentucky breakfast stout.  It's a beer.

I am drinking Jefferson's reserve as well, cheers.

Curious about the plan for the citrus after prep.  Are you freezing the citrus or canning them?
