I did not watch video and no I cant see how people use phrase DEI here. The running QB became viable when the league got softer and softer. I find it less enjoyable to watch but you basically need to have some legs in todays game because a lot of it is gimmie yardage. I watched the Eagles 2 weeks ago. Hurts didnt run exactly, but falls back jump passes at last second with a guy right on him leaving himself totally exposed....yet knowing the defender wont be driving him through the ground. In 2005 Hurts is hurt on that play all day.

i've always just attributed it to the athleticism these guys use to dominate HS and college and it just usually doesn't translate to the NFL. In HS, they were the best QB, RB, WR, DB on the entire team. In college they could have likely succeeded at another position as well but their dual threat ability made them most valuable as a QB. A few go on to be Lamar Jackson (overrated but very talented), but most don't because the talent/athleticism gap decreases so much at the pro level. Inaccuracy, inability to read defenses, etc really shows.
