jocstrap 8 Posted April 13, 2006 Started in 1997 - Took Brett farve 1st pick overall! I was a rookie then taking a QB #1 overall. BTW how long has fantasy football been around? I remember guys in the dorm playing in 1992. When did the greatest of all hobbies begin?
Zap 0 Posted April 13, 2006 It started in the 60s. Myt first league was 1985. I missed one season.
Wildman 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Heard about it in 1993, didn't show up for a draft in 1994 (can't imagine ever doing that now--nor can my leaguemates), and started in 1995--Jerry Rice was my first pick in a 12-team, draft. I picked 10th.

Timinator 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Started in 1990. Took a few years off from 2000-2004. Who am I?! Bill Parcels? Jim Everett, Barry Sanders and, I'm pretty sure, rookie Emmitt was on that first team.
gpann101 32 Posted April 13, 2006 Since 1996 14 team (eventually evolved into 3 keeper league) 1st player drafted/kept Curtis Martin Best finish ever 3rd current keepers Carson Palmer,Harrison, and Chester taylor
Cobra Kai 0 Posted April 13, 2006 I'm 24, started keeper league about five or six years ago. Took Culpepper number one - last year took Larry Johnson number one and it paid off big time. Saw it coming, I knew he was going to be a stud but thought I'd have to hold on to him for a few years before he became the starter. Got lucky, I guess. kristv 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Wow....It's actually been 12 years for me! I never really thought about it! I did miss one year when I lived away from the area the rest of my league mates were in. Now, with the internet technology the way it is, I live in the UK, one guy lives in California and the rest live in Wisconsin/Minnesota, and we draft live on MSN messenger (several of the guys get together at one location in the mid-west though). Technology is so cool.
Skeets 0 Posted April 13, 2006 I heard about it in 1979, and started our league in 1980. Dan Fouts and Earl Campbell were the first two picks. We've played consistently ever since. Most of the current owners have been in the league for 15+ years.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Ive been a recovering addict since '92.....a FF addict of course. My first pick that year was Steve Young....some young scrub named Favre was my backup. It was a redraft. The next year we re-drafted again and it became a keeper league that Im still a member of, and I drafted Emmitt with my 1st pick. It was a little different back then without the net available to level the playing field. Back then, the real addicts had major advantages. But obviously FF is much more fun now with the internet available to provide us all with a ton more resources. This FF craze is absolutely what fuels the NFL in my humble opinion. I would compare it to March Madness.....and bracket sheets.....YEAR 'ROUND. Absolutely bananas.

D'ohmer Simpson 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Mid to late 90's. Not sure of the exact year, but our commish was tracking the scoring with paper and pencil by reading the stats in the papers You young kids have it easy nowadays!
Mad Brad 0 Posted April 13, 2006 MY first FF league was in college, 1992, and 1993 seasons... Marino rocked !!! After graduating and going to a cool company in Chicago, full of guys (Bear fans) my age, I started my first league... Now I run 3 of them... And play in a total of 5 leagues... My wife hates me during the season, but when I take her out to dinner with the winnings every year, it helps to tolerate the pain of my addiction... I mean hobby... LunaTick 30 Posted April 13, 2006 Is the same year I became a Bengal hater and noticed the unrealistic nature of the Bengals fans for the first time I took Carl Pickens and Jerry Rice back to back with Jeff Blake. First or second game, Rice goes down and Pickens never did show. Somehow I managed to lose in the SB with a very low scoring team.

George Carlin 1 Posted April 13, 2006 Same here. 10 team 4 player keeper league got me started. Drafted Barry Sanders 2nd after some fool took Emmitt at 1.1 4 titles Had to be a douche and throw those titles in there. 91 was my 1st league, I had never heard of fantasy football and we threw a league together. it was so new to us, the draft went by each position and we redrew for each different position. The Same kid got 1st pick on QB and WR, guess who he picked? Young and Rice, he lost in the finals.
