kutulu 1,564 Posted October 27, 2006 Been listening to a lot of jazz and funk lately: David Axelrod Was watching this thing on Comcast on Demand just last night. Was about 30 minutes long Herbie Hancock doing collaborations with different artists....dude can sure play some piano? Artists I saw were Christian Aguilera, Paul Simon and one of the dudes from Phish, I think, Trey something. Was pretty interesting.
Jessy 0 Posted October 27, 2006 I've been listening to Interpol's Turn On The Bright Lights a lot over the past few weeks. I seem to do this every fall, probably because this is about the time I first fell in love with them four years ago. And I've been on a Rogue Wave kick, too. MicktheGreat 1 Posted October 27, 2006 Ray Lamontagne's Til the Sun Turns Black Very laid-back, mellow work from start-to-finish. Great vocals (in fact, some of the best I've ever heard), solid lyrics, and a more bluesy sound than his previous album. Definitely recommend it...
Toro 1 Posted October 27, 2006 Only if you're older than 18. I REFUSE to grow up. My best buddy is a big fan. He has a DVD of their music videos that he watches a lot. I can't get over the goofy masks. Their first album was very amateur but Iowa and Vol 3 are both great albums. The lyrics can be a bit juvenile and shock for shockings sake, but the melodies and overall music is awesome. Talk about good workout music.

MDC 5,990 Posted October 28, 2006 i recommend seeing John Scofield with Medeski at Efactory November something..even though that place is horrible. i'll even buy you a beer and punch you in the face. sorry posted under my main bored alias - porkbutt Is this really porkbutt? I saw Medeski Martin and Wood at the E-Factory years ago and I hate to say it but it sucked. The band was fine but the E-Factory is a big concrete box - terrible venue for a kinda quiet instro funk/soul band. The opening act was really good though, Soulive rocked the place. Once MMW came on people were walking around talking and stuff. How much are tix? Who's opening?

MMW was fine when I saw them - they were just a poor fit for the venue. I've seen other bands at the E-Factory that came off really well - I saw Sonic Youth, Fugazi and the Flaming Lips there (seperate shows of course). Because it's a big concrete box I think they need a loud band to fill it with sound. That's just not a great place for a kinda quiet funk/soul band to be playing. Anyway, enjoy the show.
