You have to have them for more than 6 months out of the year (we won’t) to claim the tax break.  We don’t get food stamps, we do get WIC but the card doesn’t work half the time so don’t always use it, and for 2 kids it only covers about $100 a month in groceries even after inflation (cereal, bread, peanut butter, produce is about all it covers)

But yes, for people that have no biological kids and take in like 5 kids it can be more lucrative
