I'm going to ask a racist question

Was watching some of the footage about them calling off the search for the missing boaters. One of the family members (the guy's Dad, I believe) talked about how things got pretty crazy and some people had to be sedated - the coast guard actually had to call for paramedics to sedate some people.

 

 

Which got me to thinking:

 

Why is it that many non-white women react so violently, so over the top when they get news that their loved one died? They scream, wail and beat on people who tell them.

 

Don't get me wrong - Obviously, most Moms are going to be upset at this kind of news. I'm using my own context here. I lost my Brother a few years back. I'm talking about the WAAAAAAAAAAY over the top violent denial screaming crap that you see from primarily Blacks and Arabs. (requisite qualier - Yes, I know, not all blacks and arabs, no shiit). You've got ones that beat the hell out of folks, scream - even faint.

 

I don't understand that. My brother died suddenly, unexpectedly, way too young. We were all sad, but we didn't pull this over the top bullshiit. Honest to God, when I see this crap, I think "they're trying to outdo each other". Oh, Velma's crying? I'll scream! Oh, Taneesha's screaming? I'll beat up someone! Oh, screaming and crying and beating's done? I'll 'faint'!

 

You see the damn Arab women - Palestinian, Iraqi - whatever - and they make this HUGE show of it. Whereas in white culture, we generally grieve privately. ostentatious displays of 'grief' are discouraged and just plain rude. It's not about you at the funeral, it's about the kid in the box you focking attention whoare.

 

I dunno, I'm asking a serious question. And I know whites can do this and blacks don't all do this and yadda focking yadda, obviously, this is a general question. Anybody else notice this? Have any theories on this?

I understand that I'm looking at this with a cultural bias. I think the behavior is ostentatious and rude, but I'm sure others in their community don't look at it with the same white, puritanical sense that we do. Just like other cultures think some of the things we do are rude.

Cultural differences are amazing. For instance, in my company we have a specific group of folks, of the same ethnicity, that think nothing of hocking loogies in the sink in our company kitchen. Loud enough for people to hear.

The answer is that white (by which I mean Anglo-Saxon British or Germanic descended) culture is very different from the Latin (French, Italian, Spanish) and Middle Eastern,Slavic, Indian (dots not feathers) and African cultures.

 

One of the key manifestations of this is that I think white culture is much more... stultified? in public than the others. White children, and especially women, were traditionally brought up to never, ever, make a scene in public. I remember numerous occasions where my mother punished us, not because of what we did per se, but because we did it in public.

 

The other cultures, on the other hand, seem to encourage more... exuberance from its members. Its what the Italians call La Dolce Vita (the good life) the French call joie de vivre (the joy of life) etc. and so on.

 

In America, the two traditional cultures, Black and White, seem to massively disagree with one another as to public decorum. White people (and this is deteriorating rapidly) generally wouldn't be caught dead arguing or showing emotion in public. Black people generally don't give a fock who is watching.

 

One of the saddest things to me is the complete and utter collapse of manners in this country. Nobody seems to give a fock anymore. They will speak loudly on their phones anywhere. They have no courtesy whatsoever. And they let their children behave like feral animals. I remember having my ass whooped in the parking lots of numerous restaraunts as a child. Today they would arrest you for that.

 

I think the reason for this is that violence has been completely legislated out of our society. Thirty years ago, if some jackass walked into a restaraunt and proceeded to talk loudly into a phone (ignore the fact they didn't exist) he would have promptly had his ass kicked, and the cops wouldn't have cared. Now, you can't ever hit anyone. So there are no rules anymore.

 

So in short, it is all in how you are raised. As children, none of us care a whit about making a scene in public. Those of us who are caucasian gradually had that beaten and nagged into us by our parents. Those of other cultures often do not.

Its not a racist question, per se. It is "why are the two races different in a certain regard." The answer is, "cultural differences." Now, you can argue that a judgment that one is better than the other is racist, but the question is not.

 

Aren't PC freaks always telling us to "respect each other's differences?" How do we do that if it is racist to even discuss them?

Ah see, but use of the word "too" is a judgment. Now, if you said, as we were, that "blacks are louder than whites" that is merely pointing out a difference.

 

Now, for the record, I don't give a sh!t if its racist or not. I think that as a general rule, black people are entirely too loud, and generally obnoxious in public. Take a movie theatre as a common example.

 

You see, the reason we are generally quiet, and more reserved, has nothing to do with being repressed, or emotionally dead. It's a little thing called courtesy. We don't feel that it is proper to cackle and hoot and holler and thereby disturb and annoy everyone within a 50 foot radius.

I was lower middle class growing up. However my mom would have kicked my rear end if I acted up in public.
