Tiger Woods seriously injured in car crash

Recommended Posts

Sure limit the media...at the tourney. What about at the hotel--restaurants etc etc? He is holed up in his home now. And limiting the media means nothing.

Every single media member there will be up Tiger's azz the whole time.

I don't fault him for trying to to hide.

So what's he going to do, hide for evah? The longer he drags this out the worse it will be. Unless he drags this out for say....fifty years :overhead:

Come on T, we want to see what a ninety pound woman can do to your candyass

Whatever happened to that TMZ report that the Police where getting warrants and stuff?

So lets recap:

  • The affair was fabricated
  • He wasn't drunk or under the influence
  • The police had no evidence of domestic violence (or they would have pursued)

I am sorry I was at court all day yesterday, no phone, no internet, I got called to be a witness for an assault.

Anywho.. KSB your fishing license has been revoked *stamp*

So, you don't think Tiger's wife smashed the window out of his car in a jealous rage and caused him to crash?

Since the Highway Patrol didn't think so, then neither do I.

Maybe a better "guess" is that he and his wife had a verbal arguement about their marraige. Tiger was really upset/mad jumped in his truck sped out of the driveway erratically, hit a fire hydrant which threw him into a tree. Tiger got banged up. His wife heard it all ran out and helped as did the neighbors.

In other words he had a single car accident and I don't care about he and his wife's arguement.

And just to be clear, for me, this really wasn't about Tiger Woods (even though he does have pretty teeth). This could've been about Roger Federer or Tom Brady. This is about my eternal hate of stupid people who constantly confuse editorials and gossip rags as factual news sources. Yes I'm talking about all of you.

There is a reason why Fox News is so popular. It's the opinion based shows that stir the pot. Yet you schmucks constantly reference those shows as "news". There is a reason why MTV stopped showing music videos and show "The Real World / Road Rules Challenge 18". Ya'll dig the drama crap. There's a reason why ESPN has PTI and Around the Horn and First Take and yada yada instead of actual sports and sports reporting. You womenesqe homo's eat it up. The world is going to hell in a handbasket I tell ya.

With the advent of the 24 hour news cycle, cell phones, blogs, gossip rags, twitter, the line between journalism and gossip has been blurred to where you can't even decipher between the two. You used to be able to pick the WSJ or the NY Times or even your local paper and assume for the most part what you were reading was factual news. You know why? Because those people were supposed to do their due diligence. Supposed to do their homework and check their sources before print. Same with the Network News Channels. That was journalism.

Now 'news' has turned into throwing crap at the wall until something sticks. Who cares if you get most of it wrong, as long as we dig up something...right? Slander no longer applies as long as you get just one little part of it right ya'll think it is validated. The juicier the better (even if you have to bribe your sources with money). What's important is no longer important. You gossip mongering fools thirst for not the facts, not if Tiger broke the law, not the truth that matters. Ya'lls thirst is for gossip about marital matters of somebody you've never met. It's sickening and sad. And a representation of the American public in 2009. We are over weight, rude, gossip mongering, selfish hypocrits. The whole lot.

If that makes me look stoopid for not bowing to your level then so be it.

Orignal woman had Tiger relations? X

Actually, umm.....She changed her story. She is now admitting a sexual relationship and saying her and Tiger were texting right before the accident.

Well, I agree with a lot of this. Where I disagree is that most people in this thread were not just taking the NE article at face value. In fact that article to my knowledge was never posted here when it came out. Instead most people, myself included, thought that the initial story of the accident was a pile of horse poop. Not that this is a trial, but in a trial by jury, humans analyze all of the evidence and draw a reasonable conclusion. Otherwise we would just dump it all in the guilt-o-meter and let it spit out the results.

In this day and age, sites like TMZ and other gossip-sources tend to be right more times than not.

Your problem is, you want to put your idols on a pedestal and refuse to see the obvious. As soon as the Woods accident story surfaced, it was obvious someone bizzare was going on. No one knew exactly what, but once these gossip-sources catch wind of it and start running, it becomes way too tempting, from both a financial and fame standpoint, for someone with texts, emails, pictures, or voicemails, to step forward for a few bucks and a chance to be on Extra, Enertainment Tonight, or Us Magazine.

My problem with Woods wasn't that he had a girlfriend on the side (although the number of them is getting ridiculous), it's the fact that he thought he could bury his head in the sands and it would all go away. Your boy needs to take a course in crisis management. And you need to take a course in not being naive.

Still unclear as to how/why it is 'you' have a problem with it? I can understand if you think he used poor judgment, but to suggest you have a problem with implies you have a personal connection to all of this.

Your boy needs to take a course in crisis management.

What part of Tiger is handling his marraige crisis with the people that the crisis affects....his family...do you not understand? What part of that specific portion of his life is private and he firmly believes in that principle even if it is hard do you not understand?

If we were talking about Steroids, DUI, or something then yes I think he should have had a public press conference of whatever. However the 'crisis' is strictly a personal maritial one, so like I've said the whole time. I don't care about that part and he doesn't owe me anything. He owes his wife crisis management. Not me, you, and the American public.

Tiger makes hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsements, which in essence is saying: I, tiger woods, use this product, and you should too. His marketability (the reason he makes all the endorsement dough) is based on a number of things, including his character. He profits from the spotlight, this goes with the territory.

So you (the public) buys Nike golf clubs because you think Tiger is a good husband or because Tiger is a good golfer?

If the answer is that you buy a product that Tiger endorses because you think he is a good husband then that says more about you than it does anybody else.

"Owes" is not the right word, really. Probably the biggest mistake he made so far was thinking that by not saying anything at all, it would just blow over.

That being said, who knows what the fock they'd do in that situation. You are a bazillionaire, every person in the world knows your face and thinks you're a rare, stand-up athlete and family man, and all of a sudden your dirty laundry is about to be aired in public. I might hunker down for a few days and hope for the best, too.

This is some pretty high-minded stuff coming some the same guy who had such fun with Tom Brady's personal issues.

Being the 2007 MVP doesn't change the fact that your coach is an ass and was caught cheating, and you are a phony, scumbag, deadbeat dad.

For those keeping score at home;

knocking up someone while single = scumbag

cheating on your wife = nobody's business but you and your wife's.

Don't agree with that at all. The American people's attention span is fickle at best. Everyone will move on once all the revelations die down. Something new and juicy will pop up and will attract the attention of our simple brains.

Like J'Lo's "sex tape" which may or may not surface for instance.

You underestimate the likability factor. If someone thinks Tiger is a scumbag, they are prolly going to be less likely to buy one his red nike shirts.

Part of endorsing products is maintaining respectability. Why do you think guys like John Daly continually lose endorsements?

Personally i wont buy a product because someone endorses it, but I would not buy a product if some a-hole/jackass/whatever is endorsing it.

He doesn't "owe" us anything. Ideally, his marriage isn't anyone's business. I totally agree with Tiger in principle. But phrases like "ideally" and "in principle" don't mesh with the reality of the situation.

I support his right to stick to his principles and stay in his bunker and remain private. But the media just sees that as a challenge. And usually, the media doesn't lose.

Yet if he stands up in front of the world and admits to being a horrible husband and publicly begs his wife for forgiveness, the press will back off. Not to mention, Elin can regain some dignity if we all see Tiger beg. If we don't see him beg, and Elin forgives him, then she looks like a pushover.

So yeah, he has the right to hide and doesn't owe us shiat. But it's a stupid move.

My favorite part is that half of America (both women and men) have cheated. Half are divorced. Yet everbody is all enraged. OMG!@#! This is a CRISIS.

And parrot? How many endorsments did Tom Brady lose for leaving his pregnant girlfriend? None. Once this news cycle blows over and you homo's are talking about who won The Batchelorette 12, nobody will care and you will still buy a Gatorade.

He also endorses Buicks and a whole bunch of other non golf items. You really don't think his character is important? Kobe Bryant was dropped by McDonald's after his cheating. I think Tiger is big enough where he won't be dropped by anyone but if the public starts to believe that Tiger was a scumbag his deals would vanish. Cheating is bad but not the worst thing if he can convince people he is sorry. If it came out he was a wife beater or something like that then he would be dropped in a second by sponsers regardless of his golfing abilities.

I look at things like consumer reports before i buy major products but there are a lot of people who buy things because of endoresements by likable celebrities. If it didn't work then Madison Avenue wouldn't be spending millions and millions on it.

HTH

I love how people are comparing this CRISIS (still makes me laugh people use that term) to athletes that used Steroids. Or athletes that were accused of Rape. Or other things that question their athletic ability or something wholly illegal. Apples and Oranges don't even give it justice. It's like comparing Apples and Ford Mustangs.

The point i was making is that you need to maintain a likability factor not just be good at a sport. Barry Bonds didn't get endorsement deals before the steroids thing even came up. He was just as good as Ken Griffey Junior who got tons of endorsements. Why? Because Bonds was perceived to be an ahole while Griffey was perceived to be a nice guy.

And like i said previously. I don't think Tiger will lose any deals because of this. But the star is not quite as bright as it was before the accident.

Exactly. Much like seeing Tiger spray one into the trees (a tee shot, not a caddy) makes me feel better about my golf game, seeing a guy with seemingly everything going for him struggle with fidelity make me feel that much better about maintaining a strong marriage in spite of trying times.

I neither know, nor care, if he lost any endorsements or not, as it has nothing to do with my point. You seem to think people should stay out of Tiger's private life unless there was a law broken or something, but you sure had no problem trying to make hay with Brady's private life.

Not sure what you mean by "effects you". But yes, its good to know that i have been able to maintain something that someone (with seemingly every advantage going for him) like him hasnt. I guess i would call that pride, but I dont think that its obsessing or over dramatizing.

I'm not even sure what point you are making. Gossip rags have their place. If you and me want to have a conversation about Tiger's marraige I have no problem with it. BUT don't act like Tiger or Tom owes it to his fans to hold a freaking press conference about their personal relationships. It shouldn't be the headline on the CBS evening news.

bull. how'd Kobe's jersey sales go after that? up. how about john daly? the more problems he had the more sponsers you'd see

on his shirt. kobe could rape a girl, tim duncan could help an old lady across the street...who's jersey will ppl buy then? kobe.

how many guys tried to buy ron mexico jerseys? the more offensive howard stern got, the more listeners. for every sponsor that

backs out, there are several to take the place because they want to be apart of what ppl are talking about. Hows Glenn Beck doing

after those advertisers backed out? pretty damned good. Who leads the NFL in jersey sales this year? Favre, a guy everyone is sick

of. Jay Cutler is second, a guy constntly criticized for his negatve off the field attitude in leaving denver. Terrell Owens is always near the

top despite everyone seemingly having a negative view on him. Mike Vick is 4th.

Tigers should not have cheated on his wife. Brady is a jackass for knocking up his GF then promptly leaving.

Neither should have to answer to me or your or hold a press confernce about it.

Not sure how that is hypocritical but if it makes you feel better then go ahead. I never said we or the gossip rags shouldn't dare speak of it. My point is that it's not THAT big of a deal. My point is that to think they 'owe' it to us to spill the beans on their personal stuff is sad and sickening. If some jackass would have said that Tom Brady owes it to us to explain himself about his private life I would have called them a dumbass too.

Keep the gossip in the gossip mags and keep the news in the news.

When you sell a million shirts, losing 10 means nuttin' honey.

But you knew what was inferred already.
