It was raised on a huge wave. Also it looks like it hit in the knee/shin area, which if it hit with enough force it would mean the body toppled into the ocean, probably swept away or buried. Also there was debris on the beach

Are Jacob and MIB Brothers? Don't know what relevance it has, but I think back to Locke's comment about having a crazy Mother. Maybe Mom, in some way, put these two in this situation.

No. I wouldn't be surprised if MIB is older than Jacob, and that Jacob wasn't the first "warden" of the island. He's just the most active.

Just finally got to watch it.

 

Amazing how the first episode that is not a "flash sideways" is by far the best episode of the season. I dig Jacob. His is moving up the list of my favorite characters.

 

Random week 9 thoughts.

 

I wonder if we will get some more back story on Ilana. She seemingly healed pretty quick. Did Jacob give her a gift for helping him also?

 

How did the Black Rock book get off the Island?

 

We need some clarification on the rules. Ben killed Jacob with some random knife after Jacob spoke to him but Richard had to use the special knife and stab him before he spoke like Sayid was told to do.

 

No one ever noticed this stone bench under this huge tree before? Well I guess if they never noticed the lighthouse.

 

Kinda starting to question why smokie kills so many people. They are all potential allies for him but I guess that wouldn't make for much of a bad guy if he didn't kill people.

I think it has been mentioned here too...but IMO Widmore and MIB are working together, not against each other.

 

Eloise was a part of it too. They had to get Jack and Co back to the island...Locke's body for MIB this time. Needed to get Ben back there to do his job and kill Jacob.

 

Also...back when Ben called the Smoke Monster out to deal with Widmore's mercenaries...smokey did not kill them...just drug them away and they fell back...but did he do this on purpose...have them fall back so Ben could escape and so on?

It's been said that Jacob brought the Black Rock to the island, to be fair it's feasible without loops... weak... but feasible. Technicaly it seemed to be the first the *slaves* saw the land. It's possible the ship could have been sailing around, near the island, for a while. There was no reason for the Black Rock to stop there - maybe Jacob kept it 'stuck in the snowglobe' for the rest of the day until a storm came up and forced the ship onto the island?

(I wonder if this has direct significance to the Valenzetti equation?) Widmore and Eloise seemed pretty aligned with Richard when we see flashbacks to the others camps. That is a pretty good indication that they are on Jacobs side and I would guess that Widmore and Ben's fight was just a power struggle over control of the island and is probably separate from the whole Jacob/MIB pissing match.

True...while he was with Richard then...he was "kicked off" the island...he might now see his only way back is through smokey.

Though, the pylons do present a problem with the theory.

This is good. The pylons are proof enough that Whitemore is working against MIB. I think that's why he wanted to help Locke (real) so much.

 

One thing I just realized: we still don't know why Eloise left the island. Or why she didn't take over sole leadership once Whitmore was banished. Whitmore was banished for shagging some other woman off the island. I highly doubt Eloise had anything to do with it (that's too kinky for LOST). So how did Ben assume leadership past Eloise?

 

My guess is she went batshit crazy when she realized she'd killed her own son.

I thought about what Widmore had to do with all this. And I honestly can't figure it out. He has enough money, he doesn't need to go out of his way to find the island to make money from it.

He doesn't need revenge for Ben attacking Penny, killing Alex was plenty...

Before it was revealed it was the Black Rock in The Incident, i was going to suggest that the island was once in the Atlantic ocean. It really doesn't make sense that they were going to America and ended up in the South Pacific, by that time the shipping routes were well established. Plus, in the general area that the island is located, there aren't cyclones strong enough to produced a storm surge that extreme, but there definitely are in the Atlantic ocean.

 

So, the island has moved from the mid-Atlantic ocean to the south Pacific ocean, unless it's a huge writing flaw and/or an extreme difference in time loops.

Jacob needed somebody to find the island. A couple of episodes later, Widmore arrives and is -yes I'll use the word- erecting anti-smokie pylons.

It's been established that Magnus Hanso was captain of the Black Rock. The captain of last night's ship was Magnus Hanso.

At the time it was just a subtle drop to the viewers that Widmore was connected to the island. All we knew about him was that he was Penny's father, and something of a jerk to Desmond.

 

Now I'd say it hints that he knew Richard came from the ship, and now knows he was a slave (according to the ledger, which likely lists the crew and cargo, Richard being the later).

 

ADD: it could have gotten off the island any number of ways. Eloise, Ben Linus, Richard himself. Who knows.

Concerning Captain Hanso...remember also that the DHARMA Initiative was funded by the Hanso Foundation. So it stands to reason that DHARMA is the vehicle in which the journal made it off the Island. I'm hoping they connect those dots soon enough.

2 of the most anticipated finales I can recall over the last few years both were terrible.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that Widmore is actually Magnus Hanso (captain of the Black Rock). Remember, it was Widmore that purchased the Black Rock's log book at auction. Why else would he want it? As long as he stayed on the island, he didn't age which is why he appeared to be in his late 20's to early 30's when we some him in 1954. The next time we see him, he appears quite a bit older (mid 40's) in 1977. Hs followers were pissed at him because he'd left the island. Now, he seems to be in his 60's or 70's.

 

What I'm thinking is that while on the island, people that Jacob has "touched " in some way don't age while they are on the island, but once they leave they resume the normal process. I wonder if that's why The Others thought Walt was "special". He actually was aging when he shouldn't have been. However, we never saw Jacob visit Walt. I wonder if Jacob was just manipulating Ben and The Others to put some part of his plan in motion. Didn't Mrs. Klugh say there really wasn't anything "special" about Walt after all of the testing?

I was so focking pissed at the end of the Sopranos it is hard to put into words. The show was great. The ending was one of the most horrible endings of any show I have ever watched.
