Give it away - Red Hot Chili Peppers (AWFUL SONG)

Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I mean, it's alright...but when I think of the defining "grunge" song, 15-20 come to mind first. :dunno:

Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me

I agree.

Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I'll admit that back then, it kinda blew the doors off. In hindsight, it is not as "groundbreaking" or "visionary" as vh1 tries to make it out to be.

I would also like to add...

Anything by van halen. Most overrated band in the history of ever.

Tori Amos's version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is way better than Nirvanas.

Van Halen overrated?

"Everybody Wants Some" and "Running With The Devil" are crassic.

Yeah, only live...it's on youtube. I think they first broke it out in 2006 on Lollapalooza

Speaking of Jack White and Gnarls Barkley, I like that newer song he has out that he did with Danger Mouse :music_guitarred:

Hey Jude - Beatles

Does nothing for me either. I am Reading the book about the history of SNL. Al Franken mentions how when Paul McCartney was on and he did Hey Jude during dress rehearsal, people (including him) were getting misty eyed. I was

All but 1 or 2 songs by Led Zeppelin and all but 1 song by the Stones (Paint It Black). Seriously, every time I stumble across a station that's doing some 'Get The Led Out' program, I turn it immediately.

So..you love Def Leppard but hate the Stones and Zep....I think we can just discount your opinion entirely now...thanks for playing.

Me liking Def Leppard is irrelevant. They dominated the 80s when I was in HS...whatever. You'll find a lot of people that share my opinion on the Stones and Zeppelin. I absolutely love older/classic rock, but find both of these bands overrated.

I agree to an extent. I am not a fan of Led Zeppelin at all. I like Over the Hill and Far Away and kind of like Stairway to Heaven, but the rest grate on me (can't stand Plant's voice).

The Stones have grown on me over time, but I do not love them like others. I do like Paint It Black, Get Off of My Cloud and Sympathy for the Devil but that is about it. Well, I might like Start Me Up, only because I liked it when I was 8 years old.

In no particular order, as ranking them would actually contribute to their overrated status:

Tom Sawyer - Rush (see below)

Don't Stop Believing - Journey (ANYTHING by Rush or Journey is horribly overrated, unless it's rated as crap)

Freebird- Lynrd Skynrd (Awful. Truly awful, on every level, from a band that was capable of better stuff)

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin (That this is so often considered their masterpiece has always mystified me)

Welcome to the Jungle - G&R (So bad it almost sounds like a parody of their good work)

Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'

Our very street today

Burns like a red coal carpet

Mad bull lost its way

Red red wine. The original was Neil Diamond, but you are probably referring to the UB40 version. Its a decent song, but has been overplayed to death.

And yesterday is a great song. Simple, good lyrics, no frills.
