I lost the championship to him with Big Ben, MJD, Ahmad, McCoy, Roddy, and Wallace.

Matt Mueller 146 Posted July 31, 2011 The only thing I've noticed so far is that most of the teams that won with Vick and Rodgers all have about 3-4 of this years top say 4 round picks, and a bunch of first and second rounders. Meaning if you draft one you won't be able to also have all those other guys. For example you can't draft a Rodgers, Calvin, Charles, Austin squad this year. Makes me cautious about qb early as good as they are. However your Rodgers squad looks doable...

Makes me cautious about qb early as good as they are. However your Rodgers squad looks doable... I think you'll find that to be fairly normal...the championship team has at least 4 players that would go in the first 2 rounds of next years' draft. The key is to find a guy or two that you can pick in rounds 4-8 that will end up being picked in the first two rounds NEXT year. I know it's easier said than done, but Foster is a prime example of that from last year. I don't typically advocate taking a QB in the first round, but taking one doesn't in and of itself mean your team is weaker to start the season. Another thing you may or may not see is that the championship teams didn't have a first round pick that totally flopped. If you went with Green and Mathews in the first two rounds last year, you probably were out of the running for the championship fairly early. However if you took Rodgers and JC, followed up with Foster/Hillis type picks, you were sitting really good. Just some thoughts...

It was all players that you acquired for very little, but put out top 10 numbers. Foster, Vick, Hillis, Lloyd, ect. They also had a list of players that caused teams to lose. It was Randy Moss, Shonn Greene, and other early round busts. Its all about getting players that put up big numbers for very little, and not having your guys who you spent big picks on bust. Fantasy football isn't complicated,.

Fantasy football isn't complicated,. I agree most teams on here seem to have found ww or late round gems....proves that you don't win fantasy with the first 2 rds. c9h13no3 0 Posted August 1, 2011 proves that you don't win fantasy with the first 2 rds. You win it in later roundsYou can lose your league in the first two rounds though! While there are a lot of teams with guys like Hillis, Steve Johnson, Vick, Foster, there are almost no teams here listed with Randy Moss, Shonn Greene, or other first round busts. It also makes it obvious why drafting guys like Jerricho Cotchery is retarded in the later rounds. After about round 9, its all about upside. Early rounds: draft security Late rounds: draft upside Win.

Early rounds: draft security Late rounds: draft upside Win. Well if any of these teams did draft Moss or Shonn Greene they wouldn't list them in their championship starting lineup and Moss would have been dropped so we won't really know. I posted the team I won with but the team I drafted was.... QB Joe Flacco RB Steven Jackson RB Pierre Thomas RB Arian Foster RB Ahmad Bradshaw WR Larry Fitzgerald WR Steve Smith (Car) WR Terrell Owens WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh TE Zach Miller Larry Fitzgerald was the only player who I kept for the entire year. I think it would be more interesting to ask the teams that won the league to post the team that they drafted as that will be a better idea of the draft strategy it took to win the league. I had 3 big steals in Foster, Bradshaw, and TO and I'd assume the other winning teams had a few as well.
prancers 0 Posted August 1, 2011 standard scoring, 12 team league. Drafed Gore/Calvin Johnson/Roddy White in the first 3 rounds. Was able to make mid-season trades for Jason Witten (when he was struggling) and SJax. Had Carson Palmer and some other pretty mediocre QBs until Rothlisberger was unsuspended. Actually started Kitna for a playoff game. Had Jonathan Stewart on bench all year until DeAngelo got hurt and him, Kitna and Witten (along with the WRs) pretty much carried the team in the playoffs. I agree with some here that having a top 5 WR is really crucial. It's a very stable position. I also think a big key, especially in standard scoring, is being deep at RB. It seems like each of the last few years I ended up depending on someone kind of random at RB in the playoffs when one of my higher drafted guys (i.e. Gore) got hurt. Strangely enough, I think it was actually Stewart each of the last 2 years who came through with some monster playoff games after sitting on my bench all season. msudavedawg 5 Posted August 1, 2011 The trend was the same as just about every championsip team: Did my research, did a few mocks, didn't drink at the draft party, drafted well, banged the WW like a screen door in a Kansas tornado all season long, caught a few lucky breaks along the way, and hoisted the FF Lombardi trophy when it was all said and done. The core of the team was Peyton, AJ, Bradshaw, Charles, Colston, Mike Williams (TB) and Gates/Tamme

Can keep 1 guy anywhere then another has to be from after tenth rnd. I kept vjax in nineth (didnt even start him) and stafford in 13th.
