Post the team that won your keague

Recommended Posts

If people are so inclined I was hoping we could post the starting roster of the team that won your league(s)

The reason being is that I wanted to see if any trends emerged. Did most have a top qb? 2 top wrs? Breakout rb? ...

If you post include your league size and ppr or not

In my main, 14-team league my BIL won with Vick (FA), Charles (2), Andre Johnson (1), and Foster (4).

I can't remember the rest of his team, but does it really matter? :dunno:

I lost the championship to him with Big Ben, MJD, Ahmad, McCoy, Roddy, and Wallace. :wall:

Had some trades and WW acquisitions that worked out well, but the main factor was late round sleeper RB's (Hillis and Foster), and my belief in Jamal Charles. Also, grabbed Rodgers with an early pick in 2 leagues, and had some early to mid-round WR's go off (Bowe and Nicks). VJ turned out to be huge in week 15 also.

The only thing I've noticed so far is that most of the teams that won with Vick and Rodgers all have about 3-4 of this years top say 4 round picks, and a bunch of first and second rounders. Meaning if you draft one you won't be able to also have all those other guys. For example you can't draft a Rodgers, Calvin, Charles, Austin squad this year. Makes me cautious about qb early as good as they are. However your Rodgers squad looks doable...

I made a ton of trades throughout the year my team looked nothing like that during the season. Traded Foster and Owens for AP and VJ right before week 11 when I had a first round bye almost completely locked up.

I think you'll find that to be fairly normal...the championship team has at least 4 players that would go in the first 2 rounds of next years' draft. The key is to find a guy or two that you can pick in rounds 4-8 that will end up being picked in the first two rounds NEXT year. I know it's easier said than done, but Foster is a prime example of that from last year. I don't typically advocate taking a QB in the first round, but taking one doesn't in and of itself mean your team is weaker to start the season.

Another thing you may or may not see is that the championship teams didn't have a first round pick that totally flopped. If you went with Green and Mathews in the first two rounds last year, you probably were out of the running for the championship fairly early. However if you took Rodgers and JC, followed up with Foster/Hillis type picks, you were sitting really good.

Just some thoughts...

If you look at all those teams the trend I see is about 90% of the teams all had a top 5 WR on the squad..food for thought

14 team, 8 starters, 8 bench, no DST or Kicker, PPR

QB: Cutler, K. Collins, C. Henne, J. Webb

RB: Forte, Torain, F. Jackson, R. WIlliams, M. Bush

WR: R. White, R. Wayne, M. WIlliams (SEA), J. Knox,

TE: J. Graham, B. Scaife, G. Olsen

Lots of rotating parts, but the core of my team was basically WR and TE (had antonio Gates til he was hurt).

ESPN Posted an Info Graphic a while back on the players that were most on winning fantasy teams. It was all players that you acquired for very little, but put out top 10 numbers.

Foster, Vick, Hillis, Lloyd, ect.

They also had a list of players that caused teams to lose. It was Randy Moss, Shonn Greene, and other early round busts.

Its all about getting players that put up big numbers for very little, and not having your guys who you spent big picks on bust. Fantasy football isn't complicated,.

I agree most teams on here seem to have found ww or late round gems....proves that you don't win fantasy with the first 2 rds. You win it in later rounds

Guys like, hills, bowe, foster, lloyd, dmac, m.Williams, nicks, maclin etc won leagues for most people...oh and that guy in Philly too

You can lose your league in the first two rounds though! While there are a lot of teams with guys like Hillis, Steve Johnson, Vick, Foster, there are almost no teams here listed with Randy Moss, Shonn Greene, or other first round busts.

It also makes it obvious why drafting guys like Jerricho Cotchery is retarded in the later rounds. After about round 9, its all about upside.

Early rounds: draft security

Late rounds: draft upside

Win.

Well if any of these teams did draft Moss or Shonn Greene they wouldn't list them in their championship starting lineup and Moss would have been dropped so we won't really know. I posted the team I won with but the team I drafted was....

QB Joe Flacco

RB Steven Jackson

RB Pierre Thomas

RB Arian Foster

RB Ahmad Bradshaw

WR Larry Fitzgerald

WR Steve Smith (Car)

WR Terrell Owens

WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh

TE Zach Miller

Larry Fitzgerald was the only player who I kept for the entire year. I think it would be more interesting to ask the teams that won the league to post the team that they drafted as that will be a better idea of the draft strategy it took to win the league. I had 3 big steals in Foster, Bradshaw, and TO and I'd assume the other winning teams had a few as well.

standard scoring, 12 team league. Drafed Gore/Calvin Johnson/Roddy White in the first 3 rounds. Was able to make mid-season trades for Jason Witten (when he was struggling) and SJax. Had Carson Palmer and some other pretty mediocre QBs until Rothlisberger was unsuspended. Actually started Kitna for a playoff game. Had Jonathan Stewart on bench all year until DeAngelo got hurt and him, Kitna and Witten (along with the WRs) pretty much carried the team in the playoffs.

I agree with some here that having a top 5 WR is really crucial. It's a very stable position. I also think a big key, especially in standard scoring, is being deep at RB. It seems like each of the last few years I ended up depending on someone kind of random at RB in the playoffs when one of my higher drafted guys (i.e. Gore) got hurt. Strangely enough, I think it was actually Stewart each of the last 2 years who came through with some monster playoff games after sitting on my bench all season.

The trend was the same as just about every championsip team: Did my research, did a few mocks, didn't drink at the draft party, drafted well, banged the WW like a screen door in a Kansas tornado all season long, caught a few lucky breaks along the way, and hoisted the FF Lombardi trophy when it was all said and done.

The core of the team was Peyton, AJ, Bradshaw, Charles, Colston, Mike Williams (TB) and Gates/Tamme

I won last night with the following 10 team redraft Non-PPR. I did no trades during the year

Brady

Rice

M. Bush (later round pick also drafted DMC)

K. Bell

Jordy Nelson (late round pick)

CJ Spiller (played as WR)

Celek

Steelers

Bironis

That was my starting lineup. Also had

Dez

Stevie

Julio

Kevin Smith

Tebow

Laurant

Lost DMC, Best and Britt during the year. Targeting Julio and Jorsy late in the draft helped. Dumped Vernon and Pettigrew at various points in the season.

Qb rb rb wr wr wr/rb wr/te also an idp league but they have minimal impact. 10 team keeper standard scoring. Can keep 1 guy anywhere then another has to be from after tenth rnd. I kept vjax in nineth (didnt even start him) and stafford in 13th.

Last year i kept both of them on my roster for most of the year just to have good value for this year.

At the time of this post i technically havent won yet but i am down by 2 with roddy and graham going. Fantasy gods be damned, im winning.

Team is in my signature. 14 team, non-PPR (although we're going PPR next season).

My serious value guys:

Stafford (5th), Graham (6th), McGahee (8th), Spiller (9th, came on late), D. Moore (13th), matchup DSTs: CIN, SEA

My solid guys.. slightly outperforming their ADPs:

MJD (12th/1 RD), Forte (3rd/2 RD), Marshall (12th/3 RD).

Key trade acquisitions: Julio Jones

Usually I trade more, but this year didn't need to. Spiller no getting dropped was my XMas miracle.
