What was your first Video game System?

Recommended Posts

1. Atari - I was the master at Combat

2. Sega Master System - Home Run baseball, and Rocky!

3. Nintendo - Once I realized I'd made a mistake with the Sega

4. Super Nintendo

5. Playstation - My thumbs went numb playing NHL hockey.

and that's as far as I got.

Son, anybody that's ever played me in any kinda game will tell you 2 things. I don't ... I don't care if it's mathematically impossible ... I never give up. I have a competitive spirit naturally ... it's even got the best of me at times. I'll give my best fight still in a guaranteed loss.

Yeah .... nevermind. Nobody cares anymore.

#1 - Pong.

#2 - Intellivision.

I still have two functional Atari 2600 Systems with games and 3 Intellivision Systems with games packed away somewhere because I'm a hoarder.

The only real system which I've ever owned was the original Sega Genesis. I've still got that packed away in the garage with games for... I don't know why. My favorites were Xmen and Mutant Football -- had tons of fun with my son playing the latter as the football players exploded in their 8-bit glory.

We've since gotten both a Wii and an Xbox, but I consider those more of a family/kids thing as I rarely play them.

Pong. :)

I'm old.

I had Pong - but then I had Atari Stunt Cycle, it came out before the 2600.

I had to Google it to find the real name because I called it "Evel Knievel" back then.

Here's a photo of "Stunt Cycle":

circa 1977 Atari Stunt Cycle Console

And I think maybe cbfalcon posted this??? The Zelda/Metroid/NES Wrestling/Mario Bros./TecmoBowl era of video gaming is the Golden Era for me. It was never better.

Atari 5200 with Breaker, Centipede, Defender, and Football.

Have also had, Nintendo (TecmoBowl,Mike Tysons Punchout), Dreamcast, Xbox, and now have Xbox 360 and Wii.

And for all those "Real Men/I'm an Adult" types. Real men don't give a sh*t what others think. They do what they want. I play video games with my kids.

Sure Atari 2600 and the crappy computers I had that ran sh1tty games were nice.

For me Nintendo followed by Playstation were the nuts.

Nintendo was so far better than anything that was affordable at the time. Then Playstation came along and brought graphichs to a new level.

Okay w/o starting a new thread what Arcade games were big hits when you were growing up?

I remember Pacman as a kid but as a early teen it was Double Dragon, Space Ace , and Dragon's Lair - to my later teen years when Street Fighter was all the rage then my first year in College When Mortal Combat came out -- after that I pretty much lost interest in Arcade games.

As for the Atari - Intellivision battle -- it was like Beta vs. VHS.

Like Beta was a better product than VHS - VHS won -- that's what happened with Atari and Intellivision -- Intel... was the better system with better graphics (all be it a shitty controller - some number key pad thing) But had few games - Atari had the better joy stick and the most games -- Still remember getting Pacman when it first came out for Atari when I was in grade school. Pitfall was my favorite Atari game.

Intellivision had the TV remote for a gamepad. I never owned one, but a friend did. I used to go to his house after 6th grade just because he had intellivision. We mostly played football.

The hockey game was the best. We called it thoompa for the sound it made when you checked someone. Ultimate highlight was playing it on shrooms. Laughed so hard for five minutes because all of the checking that my stomach muscles hurt the next day.

Only skinny jeaned homos played burger time on intellivision.

Us cool guys played Burgertime, BubbleBoggle, Gauntlet, hell, all the cool games at the local arcade back then.

I so miss pinball. :(

Cyclone and High Speed were two of my favorites.

That's right. You only listened to music by guys wearing skinny jeans (or spandex) back then.

and 25 years later, you still do

Atari 2600

Commodore 64

NES

Super NES

N64

Gamecube----was actually my sons.....his focking mom sold the damn thing for METH. Hundreds of dollars down the drain....she received 30 bucks for the Gamecube, about 15 games, 3 controllers, and even the gameboy player that hooked up to the bottom of it so you could play gameboy games on it.

Sega Genesis

Sega Saturn

PS1

PS2

Dreamcast---I have 250+ games for this one

XBOX

XBOX360

Just about everything but the PS3. I still have most of these systems.

My friend had the Evel Knievel game where you jump busses. Just as basic as Pong.

I forgot Intelevisin. The games like Baseball and Football were awesome.

I had that in the late 70's and me, my dad and uncle played it constantly trying to beat each other records, we played it so much it heated up and burned out. Very few of them left and seen like 2 awhile back on Ebay and it's called Stunt Cycle, Loved that!

That was a fun one. My friend could get to where you could jump so many busses you couldn’t see it land. Good stuff.

You went the same path I did. PlayStation and PS2, then 360 to series X.

I had plans of getting the PS3, but there ended up being a delay in release if I recall correctly and the 360 came out first. I said Fock it, went Xbox, and haven’t turned back. You and are in the minority.

You have game pass and paying $30 to get the deluxe version of BO7 next Friday?

I went Xbox because friends had Xbox and we would play cod together, this was obviously before the cross platform play.

My son took my Xbox to school.  I thought about buying a new one but haven't had the itch yet.  I was still playing MW3 up until the summer.

I get COD every year and I’m usually disappointed. I played last years and was entertained a month or so, but it hasn’t grab me by the nuts since WWII in 2017.  I was hoping they would have the 2008 maps when they rereleased MW2 a couple years back. That map list was a greatest hits album.

Yeah I've been more disappointed than pleased with the most recent cod releases.  Was thinking of going back to battlefield

MW2 Multiplayer was the best COD of all time and Campaign was cool too. I play Black Opps 6 now and just average and just bought it to play with friends once or twice a week. I'm not much of a fan of COD when the new systems came out 10 years back. I might buy BO 7 if my friends do and if they don't then I'll pass. You getting the new 7?

I have game pass so get it for free. I did pay the extra $30 to get the deluxe version. I tend to prefer black ops to other renditions, so hoping this new one will be cool.
